Meta-owned Instagram just announced several updates to the DMs, including the ability to edit sent text messages and pinned chats. Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, announced these updates via his official channel.

Zuckerberg thinks the ability to edit text messages is a “game changer,” and he might be right. Instagram users have been waiting for this feature, which comes with its benefits. We all make embarrassing typos sometimes, but now we can fix them without having to delete the whole message and start over.

Instagram will now let you edit texts in DM

Starting today, you can edit the sent text messages on Instagram within a time limit of 15 minutes. This is similar to the edit text feature we see on yet another Meta-owned instant messaging platform, WhatsApp, iMessage, and others. Notably, the company had begun testing this feature in November last year for some lucky users. And now, it’s available to everyone.

To edit sent texts in Instagram DM, all you’ve to do is long-press on it and then select “edit” from the dropdown menu. As you’d expect it to be, it doesn’t miss an “Edited” label. It shows up above the message.

Another update that’s announced is the ability to pin the top three chats in Instagram DMs. To do this, swipe left or tap and hold the chat, then select “pin”. You can opt to unpin the conversation whenever you want, of course.

Alongside these updates, the platform also lets you turn off read receipts for all chats or just some. You can do this in your settings under Messages and Story replies. Also, you can now pick different themes for each chat and save your favorite stickers in DMs for easy use. Just press and hold on a sticker to save it. So, there’s pretty much for everyone.
