TikTok’s creator’s rewarding program will undergo some changes soon to encourage content creators to make videos more than one minute long, Engadget reports.

In 2023, content creators on TikTok made a lot of money via the platform’s Creativity Program, which was launched in beta. TikTok says the creator’s revenue increased by over 250% within the last six months. And some creators made roughly $50,000 monthly. Given the successful implementation of the Creativity Program, the program just left the beta stage. But it will also be rebranded to the Creator Rewards Program.

TikTok’s brand-new Creator Rewards Program will use financial incentives to encourage creators to make over one-minute videos. The videos will be evaluated based on factors such as originality, play duration, search value, and audience engagement.

TikTok creators can make longer videos to make more money

The ByteDance-owned video-sharing app says that since the launch of longer videos in 2022, users have been spending 50% of their time watching long-format videos.

TikTok first announced a $1 billion budget for rewarding authentic and popular content creators. The program was initially launched to compensate disgruntled content creators who received only a few dollars for videos with millions of views. At the time, TikTok claimed its new initiative could increase the creator’s income up to 20 times.

TikTok’s rivalry with YouTube has prompted the Chinese platform to launch more incentive rewarding programs for creators. Meanwhile, the Google-owned platform is still more lucrative among content creators. It has distributed over $30 billion in the course of three years.

TikTok rebrands LIVE Subscription to Subscription

Another change that’s coming to TikTok is rebranding LIVE Subscription to Subscription. Additionally, the platform now allows non-LIVE creators to offer exclusive content and perks to their viewers. The feature was previously restricted to live streamers.

“In the coming weeks, eligible creators can sign up to access a new way to strengthen their community with added value through exclusive content and benefits while providing their most engaged communities an opportunity to connect even deeper with their favorite creators,” TikTok added.
