A well-known display analyst, Ross Young, has brought up a name of one of Samsung’s upcoming products. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 ‘Slim’ was mentioned.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 ‘Slim’ model gets mentioned, but it seems to be the ‘Ultra’ variant
The analyst said, via X, that the device could launch in Q1 2025, as panel shipments will kick off in the fourth quarter of this year. He also mentioned that it will have a bigger display than the Galaxy Fold 6, and a similar price. What’s interesting is that S Pen won’t be supported, it seems.
So, why did we say “it’s complicated”? Well, because another tipster, Ice Universe, had something to say about this. Ice Universe is one of the best-known tipsters around, and he’s almost never wrong.
He quoted Ross Young’s post and said that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 ‘Slim’ seems to be the ‘Ultra’ model that was rumored. So that device could launch under the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra name. It does make sense.
Samsung could sacrifice S Pen input in order to make the device thinner
What does not make sense, however, is the lack of the S Pen input. On the flip side, that seems to be the sacrifice Samsung is ready to make in order to make this device thinner, and thus more able to compete with various foldables from China (in that regard).
Ice Universe also added that “internal testers have not seen its details because it was developed late”, referring to the ‘Slim’/’Ultra’ device. He did add that the device “must exist”, though.
So, based on the timing of its launch that was mentioned by Ross Young, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra could launch alongside the Galaxy S25 series. Both are tipped to arrive in Q1 2025, so Samsung could bundle those devices under the same Unpacked event.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are expected to arrive in July. The rumored launch date is July 10, and the event is expected to occur in Paris. The Galaxy Ring, Samsung’s very first smart ring, will also arrive during that event, it seems.
