Earlier in February, HMD Global cut the cord with Nokia smartphones in order to launch its own-branded devices. Since the announcement, the new maker of Nokia phones has released its HMD Pulse series of smartphones. The company has also introduced the 2024 variants of three classic feature phones, the Nokia 6310, 5310, and the 230. Now, a tipster on X (formerly Twitter) has revealed details regarding some upcoming HMD phones.

Upcoming HMD phones could be mid-range offerings with Snapdragon chipsets

According to the source, HMD is planning to launch two new mid-range smartphones, which are codenamed Nighthawk and Tomcat. The former will be allegedly powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset. The latter model is claimed to utilize the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC.

In addition, the company is said to be working on a modular smartphone under the HMD Fusion Project codename. The Fusion series of devices could have modular parts like the Motorola Z series of products. However, the source didn’t reveal many details about the modular offering at the moment.

The HMD Nighthawk device is claimed to offer an AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a screen refresh rate of 120Hz. It is said to arrive with a 108MP main camera with OIS, aided by a 2MP secondary snapper. For selfies, you can expect to find a 32MP shooter. A 5,000mAh battery, Android 14, NFC, and dual speakers will also be included in the package.

As for the HMD Tomcat, it is said to offer a PureDisplay with an AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz screen panel. It will support HDR10+ content and will get its fuel from the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC. The device will provide a massive 108MP OIS main camera on the back, which will be accompanied by an 8MP secondary snapper and a 2MP third shooter. This one is said to get power from a 4,900mAh battery, which will support 33W fast charging.

HMD Fusion could be a modular offering like the Moto Z series

HMD already teased the range of modular smartphones under its Fusion series earlier this year. These products are expected to revive the design and concept of the Moto Z series of smartphones. The first HMD Fusion device could be fueled by the Qualcomm QCM6490 processor, thanks to the various expandable use cases of the SoC.

Talking about the other specs, the HMD Fusion series phone is said to have a 6.6-inch IPS display with FHD+ resolution. It could offer a 108MP main sensor, aided by a 2MP secondary snapper. A 4,800mAh battery with up to 30W fast charging support is rumored to keep this phone alive.
