Samsung‘s upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event in July may bring a new pair of TWS earbuds. The company has been working on the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro for a while and the pair appears to be nearing its launch. It has just picked up regulatory approval from the FCC in the US. The unannounced buds also previously received certifications from India’s BIS, South Korea’s Safety Korea, and independent product testing agency TUV Rheinland.

Galaxy Buds 3 Pro grabs the FCC certification ahead of launch

The Galaxy Buds 3 Pro will succeed the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro as Samsung’s premium TWS offering. The FCC certified the new buds with the model number SM-R630, the same as certified by other agencies. Documents shared by the American regulatory body reveal that the upcoming TWS pair is manufactured by Samsung in South Korea. The company also has manufacturing hubs in other parts of the world, though.

Previous certification listings have revealed that the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro will have an identical battery capacity as its predecessor. The charging case’s battery, to be precise. Bearing the model number EB-BR630ABY, this battery has a rated capacity of 500mAh battery. The typical or advertised battery capacity should be 515mAh. The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro’s case also has a 500mAh rated battery capacity and 515mAh typical capacity.

Details about the tiny battery placed inside the buds are unknown. The previous-gen model boasts a 61mAh battery in each bud (the rated capacity is 58mAh). It is unclear if Samsung will keep the battery size unchanged. The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro offers around eight hours of continuous playtime without ANC (active noise cancellation) and five hours with ANC enabled. With the charging case, you get a total playtime of over 25 hours.

The new buds may boast AI capabilities

On-device AI capabilities are quickly becoming a norm in the mobile industry. Samsung started the trend with the Galaxy S24 series and everyone is rushing to include AI features on their devices. The Korean firm may now bring AI to its TWS earbuds starting with the Galaxy Bids 3 Pro. Rumors from December 2023 say the new buds will use AI for real-time translation of calls and face-to-face conversations.

AI could also help enhance the Galaxy Buds experience in other areas such as battery management, ANC, and ambient sound. We might hear more about Samsung’s AI plans for TWS earbuds in the coming weeks. The Galaxy Buds 3 Pro is expected to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Watch 7 series in July. The launch event may take place in Paris, France on July 10.
