This may surprise many of you, but the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is not among the best-ranked camera phones on DXOMARK. The device claimed only 13th place in DXOMARK’s rankings, which is quite modest for this phone.
DXOMARK was not particularly impressed with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra camera performance
This pretty much goes against tons of reviews out there, which consider the Xiaomi 14 Ultra to much closer to the top. We are actually in the same boat. We loved our experience with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra cameras, and do consider this phone to be amongst the best camera phones out there.
What did DXOMARK had to say, though? Well, first and foremost, the phone got a camera ranking of 149 on DXOMARK. As already mentioned, that puts the phone in 13th place overall.
That puts it behind (in no specific order) the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, Google Pixel 8 Pro, OPPO Find X7 Ultra, Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, Vivo X100 Pro, and more. As a reminder, the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is at the very top of the pecking order with a score of 163 points. It’s followed by the HONOR Magic6 Pro with 158 points, and OPPO Find X7 Ultra and Huawei Mate 60 Pro+, both of which scored 157 points.

So, where did it go wrong with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, based on what DXOMARK said? Well, DXOMARK mentions “often noticeable shutter lag” as one of the main downsides to this camera.
A “limited depth of field results in some out-of-focus subjects in group portraits” is also mentioned. The same goes for “occasional color inaccuracies, especially in low light”.
DXOMARK also listed “slightly soft textures” under the ‘Cons’ category. The same goes for “local noise in some indoor and low light conditions”. Some other Cons are listed, but also quite a few Pros.
DXOMARK also had plenty of good things to say about the camera performance
DXOMARK hailed a good highlight rendition of the phone, and “almost noise-free images across all lighting conditions”. “Good details when zooming” was also mentioned, and the same goes for “accurate autofocus”.
The site also hailed “good exposure and fairly wide dynamic range”, and “accurate white balance and nice colors in most conditions”.
