Google has just launched a second update to the Android 15 Beta 2 that launched at Google I/O last month. It’s pretty rare for Google to release two-point updates for a single beta, but here we are.
This update, Android 15 Beta 2.2, apparently fixes six more bugs that were present in Android 15 Beta 2. This is going to be built AP31.240426.034.B4 and is available for the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 8a. Basically, every Pixel will get Android 15 later this fall.
Here are the bugs that Google says have been fixed with this latest point update.
Fixed remaining issues where creating a private space on a device for the first time removed app icons from the Home screen (or Home screens if more than one Home screen had been added). (Issue #340868295)
Fixed an issue with the Wallet role that prevented NFC payments from functioning in some cases. (Issue #340933949)
Fixed an issue where the app drawer didn’t open when swiping up. (Issue #335798568)
Fixed an issue with NFC observe mode that prevented NFC payments from processing in some cases.
Fixed an issue that sometimes caused videos that were recorded using 10-bit HDR to have a green tint.
Fixed various other issues that were impacting system stability, interactivity, and connectivity.
How to join the Android Beta program
If you’re interested in running the Android 15 Beta on your device, you can head to this website and enroll. Once you enroll, you will receive an update that will bring you to Android 15. It’s very easy to set up and get on the beta. But leaving the beta is a bit more difficult. In order to leave the beta, you’ll need to go back to the Android Beta program website and unenroll. Once you do that, Google will send an update to your phone, which will roll it back to Android 14. However, that will also fully factory reset your phone. Meaning you’ll lose all of that data.
So, you’ll want to think twice before jumping on the beta. At this point, however, the Android 15 Beta is pretty stable. It’s not perfect, but it can be used on a daily driver.
We are still expecting two more beta releases – Beta 3 and Beta 4 – before the final stable release is available after July.
