Apple just held WWDC 2024, and the company just announced some interesting new features for its ecosystem of products. The company just showed off some new features coming to iPadOS 18, and this was a highlight of WWDC.
Apple also announced some new features coming to iOS 18. These features enhance the privacy and usability of the platform. This extends to the apps as well.
Apple unveiled iPadOS 18 at WWDC 2024
The announcements for iPadOS 18 weren’t as robust as those for iOS 18. They’re still pretty significant, though. Starting off the announcements, let’s mention quite possibly the most significant addition in iPadOS history, Calculator!
Calculator
Obviously, Apple was playing up the fact that the iPad doesn’t come with a calculator by default. Well, the company brought a calculator app, and it resembles the one present in iOS. However, the company didn’t want to leave it at that.
The iPad Calculator app will actually integrate with the Apple Pencil and let you write equations. Along with that, the calculator will give you the answers based on your equation. It will update the answers in real time as you change the equations.
Shareplay
This app has an interesting feature that will let you draw on your iPad to indicate what the other person should interact with on their screen. This will make communicating with colleagues much easier and more seamless.
There’s another feature that will allow you to give the other person remote access to your iPad. This will let them perform actions on your iPad using theirs.
Notes
This app also has some interesting new additions. For starters, you’ll be able to take handwritten notes, and the app will automatically fix your handwriting. So, if you’re a sloppy writer, then it will help make your writing more legible.
Next, you’ll be able to copy and paste text into your notes. The app will paste the text and convert it into your handwriting, so it’s more consistent.
The app will convert your notes into a format that will allow you to move your text around flawlessly.
Floating bar
iPadOS 18 will bring a floating bar at the top of the screen that will let you perform certain actions. This bar will show up in certain apps, and it acts like a navigation bar with different tabs you can summon.
You can expand the top bar into a sidebar that rests on the left side of the screen. If you use a certain item in the sidebar often, then you can pin that item to the top bar.
