Samsung has released the June security update for more Galaxy devices. The Galaxy A53, Galaxy Xcover 7, Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro, and Galaxy A14 are the four new devices joining the party. This month’s Android security release patches nearly 60 vulnerabilities across the Galaxy family.

Galaxy A53 and more devices get Samsung’s June security update

Nearly three weeks into June, Samsung is almost done updating its 2021 and newer Galaxy flagships to the June SMR (Security Maintenance Release). The update is missing for some models in select regions, but it is just a matter of time now. The company, meanwhile, has shifted focus to the budget and mid-range segment.

The Galaxy A53 is currently picking up the latest SMR in Europe and Asia. The new firmware build numbers for the phone in the two regions are A536BXXSAEXF1 and A536EXXSAEXF1, respectively. Samsung should soon bring this update for the 2022 premium mid-range handset to other markets, including the US. It is still getting monthly security patches, so the company is unlikely to skip this release in any market.

The Galaxy Xcover 7 and Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro are also initially receiving the June security update in Europe. This month’s security release for the two rugged phones comes with the build numbers G556BXXS4BXF1 and G736BXXS6EXF1, respectively. The official changelog provided by Samsung says the update brings improved security and nothing else. The Galaxy A53’s changelog says the same thing.

The Galaxy A14 is another Samsung device joining the June SMR party. The budget phone is getting this update in some Asian countries with the build number A145FXXU6CXF1. Interestingly, the update also brings One UI 6.1 to the device. It picked up the new One UI version with an older security patch in Europe. Since the Galaxy A14 doesn’t get monthly patches, Samsung may not update it to the June release globally.

The June SMR patches nearly 60 security issues in Galaxy devices

As always, the June SMR for Galaxy devices bundles dozens of Android OS patches from Google along with Galaxy patches from Samsung. The Android maker addressed 37 high-severity vulnerabilities this month, while the Korean firm patched 22 Galaxy security flaws of varying severity, including one critical flaw. Samsung will gradually update all eligible Galaxy phones and tablets to the latest SMR globally.

To check for updates on your Galaxy device, open the Settings app, go to the Software update menu, and tap on Download and install. If a new update is found, you will be prompted to download it. You can also check the current security patch level from the Settings app. Scroll down to the bottom and enter the About phone section. Now select Software information and scroll down to see the last installed security patch.
