The US factory-unlocked Galaxy Z Fold 6 shines on Geekbench

Over the past couple of months, we have seen numerous benchmark entries for Samsung’s upcoming foldable smartphones on Geekbench. Both the US and global versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 visited the platform multiple times, confirming the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (For Galaxy) chip everywhere. The listings also confirmed a RAM boost for the Flip, with the device getting a 12GB RAM variant for the first time.

A fresh Geekbench entry now shows the US factory-unlocked version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 (the carrier-locked version appeared last month). The device the model number SM-F956U1 (locked version is SM-F956U) and runs Android 14. It boasts 12GB of RAM, which is the standard on the Fold, while the Galaxy Z Flip 6 also has an 8GB RAM variant. Rumors say Samsung may not sell the 12GB Flip in all markets.

Since leaks have already revealed the detailed specs of both upcoming foldables, this Geekbench listing doesn’t have anything that might interest you. It’s the first time we are seeing the unlocked version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and that’s about it. The device scored 2,257 in single-core CPU tests on Geekbench v6.3. The multi-core tests yielded a score of 6,903. These scores are slightly lower than what the Flip model achieved in its latest outing.

However, the scores are up to 15% higher than what the carrier-locked version of the Fold model achieved last year. These fluctuations indicate the test devices are running pre-release software, which may not be properly optimized for the best overall performance. Well, you should never take a benchmark performance at its face value. The real-world performance may vary depending on various factors, so it’s better to go with hands-on reviews.

The new foldables launch next month with AI features

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 on July 10. The new foldables will run Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1 out of the box. It brings several new AI features, with leaks hinting at AI tools that may let you explore your imagination with the S Pen in hand. Most of these AI features will roll out to older Galaxy foldables, tablets, and flagship smartphones. The Galaxy S24 series is also said to get camera fixes following next month’s Unpacked.
