Alongside the OnePlus Pad 2 and Nord 4, the company launched the Watch 2R and Nord Buds 3 Pro. The new watch is a refreshed and cheaper version of the OnePlus Watch 2 launched earlier this year. The earbuds, meanwhile, arrive as the firm’s latest premium wireless earphones.
The OnePlus Watch 2R is a more affordable Watch 2
The new OnePlus Wear OS smartwatch is a lighter and more affordable version of the OnePlus Watch 2, something we exclusively reported earlier. The OnePlus Watch 2R weighs 37 grams, notably less than the OnePlus Watch 2 at 49 grams. The company achieved this by switching from stainless steel to aluminum. The new model has an aluminum casing with sapphire crystal glass on the front. It retains IP68 and 5ATM durability ratings but seemingly lacks the MIL-STD-810H military-grade testing certification.
This shouldn’t be a worry unless you frequently expose your watch to extreme environmental conditions or bump it on hard materials often. The change of materials also brings a slight redesign. The lower button is now circular. The two physical buttons on the right side also no longer have a raised frame between them. The rest of the watch looks identical, with OnePlus even keeping similar colorways—Forest Green and Gunmetal Gray.
Internally, we don’t find any difference between the OnePlus Watch 2 and Watch 2R specs. The new watch has a 1.43-inch circular AMOLED display with a 466×466 pixels resolution and 1,000 nits of peak brightness. It supports AOD (always-on display). The wearable features a Dual-Engine Architecture with the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 and BES 2700 chipsets, paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of eMMC storage. This Wear OS watch supports Fast Pair.
The OnePlus Watch 2R has a 500mAh battery capable of powering it for 100 hours in Smart Mode. In Power Saver Mode, the watch runs for up to 12 days. It supports 7.5W charging, so topping up the battery will take some time. The device also has a built-in loudspeaker, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and NFC. It offers a wide range of health features. Despite unchanged internals, the watch is substantially cheaper. It cost $230/€279/£249 compared to the Watch 2’s $300.
The OnePlus Nord Buds 3 Pro are fairly affordable too
The OnePlus Nord Buds 3 Pro are a decent pair of affordable wireless earbuds. They offer an improved 49dB hybrid ANC (Active Noise Cancelation). The buds also feature Smart Noise Cancellation, which intelligently filters out unwanted sounds to keep you aware of your surroundings. A transparency mode allows you to talk to people without removing the buds. Its 3-mic design also allows for crystal clear voice during calls.
Featuring a 12.4mm dynamic driver and Basswave 2.0 technology for rich bass, these buds produce excellent sound. They boast Bluetooth v5.4 for a reliable connection up to a distance of ten meters. The Nord Buds 3 Pro also supports Fast pair and dual connection. Each bud has a 58mAh battery that keeps it running for up to 12 hours without ANC and 5.5 hours with ANC. The case packs a 440mAh battery for a maximum playtime of 44 hours.
These buds support fast charging. You get a total playtime of 11 hours with just 10 minutes of charging the buds and case. When only the buds are charging, 10 minutes of power supply is enough for 4 hours of runtime. Each bud weighs 4.4 grams and boasts an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance. OnePlus offers the Nord Buds 3 Pro in Soft Jade and Starry Black colors. The buds are compatible with Android and iOS and cost $80.
