Recently, Samsung started rolling out the August patch to eligible devices. The company has already sent out the update to the carrier-locked Galaxy S24 series in the US, first to AT&T users. Now, the factory-unlocked version of the Galaxy S24 series in the US is receiving the August 2024 update. The carrier-locked Galaxy S23 series is also getting the same treatment.

In both cases, this is a minor incremental update with only security fixes. This may be disappointing for owners of the Galaxy S24 series, since they were waiting for some serious camera improvements. However, it looks like they will have to wait a bit longer to get better picture quality. While the Galaxy S24 series’ camera performance is already good, there are things that need fine-tuning for months, and fans have been eager for it.

The August 2024 update for the carrier-free Galaxy S24 series has build number S92xU1UES3AXFJ. On the other hand, the patch for the carrier-locked Galaxy S23 series uses build number S91XUSQS4CXG8. According to SamMobile’s report, Comcast, DISH, T-Mobile, and Xfinity customers are receiving it first.

The latest update includes fixes for 50 potential security issues, so it is recommended to update as soon as possible to keep your device secure. Users of eligible devices should already be receiving the OTA availability notification. However, they can also check for it manually via Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.

Samsung working on catching up with pending updates

Lately, Samsung has been piling up work with some pending updates. Recent reports indicate that the company indefinitely suspended the first One UI 7 beta to focus on the One UI 6.1.1 stable rollout for dozens of eligible devices. So, a delay in the long-awaited camera improvements for the Galaxy S24 series was also to be expected. Anyway, let’s hope that the company normalizes the situation soon and that the camera boost for S24 devices doesn’t take long to arrive.
