Earlier this week, Samsung revealed the complete details of the August 2024 update that’s due for millions of its devices. Now, the company has finally started rolling out the new firmware. The brand’s this year’s S series flagship, the Galaxy S24, is getting the August 2024 update in the US. In addition, the company has started rolling out the same update for the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S20 FE models as well.
Galaxy S24’s August 2024 update has started hitting AT&T users
According to user reports on Reddit, the AT&T-bound Galaxy S24 is getting a new update with the August 2024 security patch. As expected, the new firmware only comes with security-related enhancements and doesn’t bring any major new features. The new update weighs around 470MB.
One of the Galaxy S24 users on the AT&T user has posted a screenshot of the change log. It reveals that the One UI version is still 6.1, while the firmware version ends with “AXFJ”. The change log reads “The device is protected with improved security”. It brings device stability improvements and bug fixes.
The new Galaxy S24 August 2024 update doesn’t offer the much-awaited improvements for the phone’s imaging performance. The camera-centric and other feature enhancements are expected in the upcoming One UI 6.1.1 update.
Notably, the major One UI 6.1.1 update for the Galaxy S24 is delayed. The information comes from a post on X by the reliable gadget tipster Ice Universe. There’s no word why the company has delayed the new update, but we expect to hear more soon.
The older Galaxy S23 and S20 FE models are getting the same treatment in the US
Apart from the Galaxy S24, Samsung has started pushing the August 2024 security updates to the older models as well. The unlocked Galaxy S23 units in the US have received the new firmware that weighs around 420MB. All three Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, and S23 Ultra users have reportedly started getting the new update. The same update should expand to telco-bound units and regions worldwide in the coming weeks.
Finally, the Galaxy S20 FE users on the AT&T network have started receiving the August 2024 security update. Notably, it’s good to see Samsung is first rolling out the latest firmware update to a device that’s almost four years old.
