Companies often rename their device lines to what they feel would resonate the most with their audiences, but they sometimes wind up confusing the masses (looking at you, Sony). Google isn’t much better with its new Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Well, according to a new leak, Samsung might use different names for the Galaxy S25 series phones. The Ultra model might receive a name that we thought was long gone.

Samsung had experimented with the naming scheme with its S series phones over the years. Starting with the Galaxy S6 phones, there were the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, and that was the same for the Galaxy S7 series. Then, with the Galaxy S10 series, we got a weird naming scheme with the Galaxy S10e, S10, and S10+. It wasn’t until we got the Galaxy S20 series that we got the Base, “+”, and Ultra model naming scheme.

Samsung could use different names for the Galaxy S25 series of phones

Yogesh Brar is a noted leaker, but you’ll still want to take this news cautiously. There’s a large chance that this is inaccurate, as it has not been confirmed by Samsung. Also, it’s at least four months out from the launch of the phones.

According to his report, the Galaxy S25+ might be called the Galaxy S25 Pro. This would put Samsung in the same cart as the thousands of other phones that refer to their more advanced versions of their phone as Pro.

However, the star of the show is the Galaxy S25 Ultra. If Brar is correct, then there won’t be a fifth generation of Ultra phones. Instead, Samsung might opt to resurrect the Note branding. So, if this is true, then we could be looking at the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Pro, and the Galaxy S25 Note.

Galaxy S25 names

We have no idea why the company could be doing this. We’ve been getting news and leaks about Samsung making changes to the overall shape of the Galaxy S25 Ultra (or Note). So, this might be the company looking to bring some change to the Galaxy S line after five years.
