After detailing the August 2024 security update, Samsung recently started rolling it out to the Galaxy S24, S23, and S20 FE. Now, the company has released the same update for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 smartphone. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is getting the August security update alongside the older Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Fold 3 smartphones.
Galaxy Z Fold 5, Fold 4, and Fold 3’s August update has started rolling out in the US
Samsung is rolling out the August update to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 users in the US first. It is available now for the unlocked units of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Fold 4 smartphones. Some carrier-locked units of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 have also started getting the same treatment. The build number of new firmware for the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Fold 4, and Fold 5 is F926USQS7IXG6, F936U1UES6FXGJ, and F946U1UES4CXG6, respectively.
Samsung is rolling out the new update over the air in a gradual manner. So, not all units of the aforementioned phones will get it at once. You can manually check if the update is available for your device or not by going to Settings > Software update menu. After the US, the August 2024 security update is expected to be available in other markets in the coming weeks.
The new update fixes several security vulnerabilities
Notably, Samsung already released the complete details of the new August 2024 security update earlier this month. According to the change log, the new update fixes as many as 50 critical, high, and moderate-level security vulnerabilities. The new firmware also carries fixes for the critical “CVE-2024-36972” security issue. Furthermore, Samsung said that the August 2024 security update is going to be very important for its millions of Android devices.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and older model’s new updates don’t bring any new goodies that arrived with the Galaxy Z Fold 6. However, these features will make it to the older devices in the coming days through the One UI 6.1.1 update.
