Primate Labs, the company behind Geekbench, has introduced the Geekbench AI app. It is a cross-platform AI benchmarking tool designed to evaluate devices’ performance under heavy AI workloads. Notably, Primate Labs has been developing a new tool using the name Geekbench ML or Machine Learning since 2021. However, the company has shifted to the new name for obvious reasons.
Geekbench AI can measure your device’s CPU, GPU, and NPU to determine how well it can handle AI tasks
The Geekbench AI cross-platform benchmarking tool can tell how fast your device can handle real-world AI tasks. It measures your device’s CPU, GPU, and NPU to determine if it’s ready for the latest cutting-edge machine-learning apps. Furthermore, the tool breaks down AI performance across the hardware stack. You can use it to choose the GPU, CPU, or your device’s dedicated Neural Processing Unit for testing.
Notably, the Geekbench AI tool allows choosing from various AI frameworks on your device, including ML or QNN. Geekbench says, “Developers can determine the best combination of frameworks or models for particular workloads, and consumers can easily quantify the impact of dedicated AI hardware” on their devices.
The Geekbench AI tool provides three overall performance scores. These include Single Precision, Half Precision, and Quantized, which reflect the diverse AI hardware designs across various devices. The company mentioned that “using large datasets that mimic real-world AI use cases, both developers and consumers can measure on-device AI performance in just a few minutes”.
Geekbench AI is available for iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, and Linux
Geekbench has announced that its new artificial intelligence benchmarking tool is available across platforms. It can measure the AI performance of devices running Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, and Linux OS platforms. The exact supported platforms include Android 12, iOS 17, Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, macOS 14, and Windows 10 or higher.
The Geekbench AI tool is built for hardware across the capability spectrum. It can be used to test a smartphone with an ultra-low-power NPU. Furthermore, you can use it to test a dedicated workstation featuring a kilowatt-plus of dedicated AI computing power.
You can download and try the Geekbench AI 1.0 tool on your Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, or Linux machine right away. Primate Labs is also offering a more advanced Geekbench AI Pro version of the new tool. It is available with professional and corporate licenses. The pro version includes automated testing tools, offline mode, and a commercial use license with basic email support.
