Instagram will now let you use as many as 20 photos and videos in a single post. According to a report by The Verge, the Meta-owned social networking platform has started rolling out the new functionality starting August 8th. The new feature is rolling out to all Instagram users globally and is not limited to just some particular regions.
Instagram has doubled the limit of photos and videos you can include in carousel post
Previously, you could use only 10 photos or videos in a single carousel post. The company has reportedly doubled this limit. Now, you can include as many as 20 photos and videos in a single Instagram post. For those unaware, the carousel posts allow users to “photo dump” various images and videos at one time in a single post. Instagram users can then use swipe gestures to view all of them.
The higher ceiling for carousel posts on the Instagram app will be helpful when multiple people are contributing to a single post. Notably, the new expansion also brings Instagram in line with TikTok. The latter lets you use as many as 35 photos in a single post. Instagram has reportedly been testing higher image and video limits for standard grid posts since earlier this year.
Instagram originally launched the carousel post format to all users back in 2017. Ever since, the feature had a limit of 10 items until now. The company has been adding new functionalities to the carousel posts since the launch. Some of the noteworthy additions include the ability to pair songs with the posts and delete a single photo from the batch.
Instagram’s AI Studio-powered AI avatars are now available to all creators
In related news, Instagram’s AI Studio now allows all creators on the platforms to generate their AI-powered avatars. The company originally introduced this feature last year and now it is rolling out to more creators. Instagram has more ambitious plans for the AI Studio tools.
The company will eventually let regular users use the AI Studio tools to creator their AI avatars. The update is in the pipeline and is expected to roll out in the coming weeks.
