The latest Made By Google event just happened, and the company just introduced us to its latest Pixel devices. We saw the four new Pixel 9 phones, and they’re going to come with some great features. However, if you’re expecting a shiny new operating system, you’re going to be disappointed. The Pixel 9 won’t come with Android 15 out of the box.
Why won’t the Pixel 9 come with Android 15?
This confirms information that we exclusively leaked recently. Each new Pixel device comes out with a new version of Android. Sure, you can update your existing phone to the latest version of Android, but there’s something about getting a phone with the software natively installed. In any case, it shouldn’t discourage you from picking up one of the phones.
With the news that Samsung has delayed the launch of the One UI 7 beta, it’s tempting to believe that Android 15 is delayed in general. However, that’s not likely the case. Remember, Google is launching its phones much earlier this year. They’re being announced two months early, and they’ll start shipping in September. Usually, Google announces its devices in October and starts shipping later that month.
So, it looks like the hardware just got a head start over the software. Android 15 just isn’t ready for prime time. We don’t know when the company is going to officially launch Android 15. When it does flip the switch, the newly announced devices will get first dibs, and the other phones will follow suit.
So, if you’re looking to purchase a new Pixel phone, don’t worry about the software.

Today, Google announced the new Pixel 9 series of phones. These include the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. These all bring a new design over last year along with a new processor and AI smarts.
Along with the phones, Google also announced the new Pixel Watch 3 and the Pixel Buds Pro 2. This is one of the company’s biggest Pixel launches, and we’re all excited to get our hands on the new devices.
