Google has just announced some changes to Chrome that make it easier to organize your tabs across devices. This applies to smartphones, tablets, and computer, regardless what device you’re using.
Chrome is making it easier to organize tabs across devices, Chrome on iOS is catching up
The first feature that Google mentioned is tab groups. That feature is already available on both desktop and Android devices, but it’s now coming to Chrome on iOS too. Regardless if you’re using an iPhone or an iPad, you’ll be good to go.
You’ll be able to group related tabs together without a problem, and also give them a custom name and color. All you have to do is open the tab grid, long-press a tab, and then select ‘Add Tab to New Group’. You can, of course, also rearrange tab groups as you see fit.
The second feature that was mentioned is usage of tab groups across your devices. This is another feature that is already available on Chrome on Android and desktop and is soon coming to Chrome on iOS.
It allows you to save and sync your tab groups. That way they can automatically update across all your devices. That way you can continue your work on a larger screen, if you need it, and don’t have to worry about forgetting your work when jumping between devices.
The third feature is not yet available on Android either, but it’s coming soon
Now, the third feature that Google mentioned is not yet available on Android or desktop. It is soon coming to both, and iOS too. Chrome will soon suggest pages to revisit based on tabs you opened up on your other devices.
There’s no need to bookmark the page or remember the exact URL, Chrome will suggest pages to revisit on the Chrome New Tab page. Some of you may find this rather useful, that’s for sure.
This feature is coming “in the coming weeks”, said Google. No exact date has been given, it’ll simply pop up in Chrome once the company starts pushing it out.
