Sony has announced a new set of DualSense controllers for the PS5 as part of its new Chroma collection, which also includes new console covers. When the PS5 originally launched back in 2020, it had one color option for quite a while – White. Sony then eventually added the Black model, followed not too long after by a Starlight Blue, Galactic Purple, Cosmic Red, and Gray Camo. The company has steadily added a few themed models as well, based on certain games like Spider-Man 2, Astro Bot, and the ill-fated Concord.
Of course, Sony also launched a different trio of shiny colors with the first series of console covers to launch alongside the PS5 Slim model, Sterling Silver, Volcanic Red, and Cobalt Blue. Now there’s a new trio of colors available, and these might be the best ones yet. At least for the options with no themed design.
The Chroma collection includes three new colors of PS5 controllers
Whether you only have one DualSense or simply like collecting all the colors, you now have three more you can add to your collection. The new colors include Chroma Pearl, Chroma Indigo, and Chroma Teal. Sony says these new colors have a color-shifting attribute to their design. More specifically speaking, you can look at the controllers from different angles and see a range of colors instead of just one solid color. More or less like pearlescent paint.
Each new controller has a matching console cover too. That being said, these are only for the PS5 Slim model, and not the original or the upcoming PS5 Pro that launches this November.
Not all of the new controller colors launch at the same time
None of the new color options are available yet but at least two of them are launching in the near future. Both the Chroma Indigo and Chroma Pearl will be launching on November 7. Pre-orders begin much sooner though, as pre-orders will be live on October 3. So just a a week away.
As for the Chroma Teal, Sony confirms this won’t be launching until January 23, 2025. Pre-orders will go live the same day as the others at least. When it comes to pricing, these new color options will retail for $79.99 and will be available through PlayStation Direct and select retailers. Pricing for the matching Console Covers will be $64.99, with pre-order dates and launch dates following the same time frame as the controllers.
In terms of regional availability, the entire collection will be available from PS Direct in the US, UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg.
