Right now, the main Meta Quest devices on the market are the Meta Quest 3 and the Meta Quest 3s. They’re pretty popular headsets, being much (MUCH) more affordable than the Apple Vision Pro. However, tech waits for no person; we have a rumor about Meta’s next Quest headsets that could come out.

We might have information on Meta’s next Quest headsets
This information comes from Apple Insider Mark Gurman, and it tells us a little bit about Meta’s strategy going forward. Gurman told us about two headsets that could be coming to the market.
Firstly, Meta could be working on the Quest 4. It would make sense for Meta to be working on the successor to the base Meta Quest 3. The Quest 3 launched in June 2023. However, based on the release schedule of the Meta Quest headsets, we could expect the Quest 4 to launch in 2026. The Quest 2 launched in 2020 with the Quest three following three years later.
Gurman didn’t provide any information on what sort of tech or innovations we should expect. Obviously, it will bring improved hardware, better motion tracking, more features, and a new design.
Meta Quest Pro 2?
Along with information about the Meta Quest 4, Gurman also hinted at the company working on the Meta Quest Pro 2. The Meta Quest Pro launched two years after the Meta Quest 2, and it brought a more premium experience. It was usurped by the Quest 3, but we all wondered when the company planned on releasing another Pro variant.
We don’t know if the company will call this the Meta Quest 2 Pro. The report refers to it as a “new high-end model that could eventually become a successor to the Quest Pro mixed-reality headset.” So, we’re just putting 2 and 2 together. This high-end headset might be a more robust headset compared to the Quest 3/4. Oddly enough, the timing is a bit convenient.
Meta was previously working on a Quest Pro 2, but it canceled the project. Now, we hear about it possibly coming back from the dead. It’s just convenient that we’re hearing about this after the Apple Vision Pro and during the lead-up to Samsung’s XR headset. The Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S are the more budget-friendly options, but if Meta launches a more premium model, it seems like the company will angle it as a proper competitor to the Vision Pro and Samsung’s headset.
If so, then we can officially christen the XR market as “mainstream”. Right now, it’s struggling to make it into the public mindset, but with major players like Samsung, Meta, and Apple throwing punches, you know that more people will know about it.
