The shiny (literally) new Google Pixel 8 Pro is finally official, and pre-orders are now available. The device is up for pre-order now and will start shipping on October 12. And it’s the first phone to launch running on Android 14.
The new Google Pixel 8 Pro is a pretty nice upgrade over the Pixel 7 Pro from last year. It received a pretty big display upgrade here, giving it an insane brightness level of 2,400 nits of peak brightness. It can also hit 1,600 nits for HDR content, which is about as bright as some other phones get for peak brightness. It also got faster charging speeds this year. It’s not much faster, but every little bit helps. The Pixel 8 Pro does now run at 30W when charging.
Google has also upgraded the Pixel 8 Pro with the new Tensor G3 processor. Which should be faster, less prone to overheating, and offer more AI smarts, too. Which is definitely something Google wants.
