Google announced two new smartphones today, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. The Pixel 6 Pro is the more powerful of the two, though both are considered to be Google’s new flagships. We’ve already talked about the Pixel 6 Pro specs, and it’s now time to take a look at the Pixel 6 specifications.

The Pixel 6 is inferior to the Pixel 6 Pro, but the difference between the two, from the spec side of things, is not huge. Both phones are immensely powerful, and share the most important components.

Before we get down to it, let’s just say that the Pixel 6 has a flat display, not a curved one, while it also has one less camera than its ‘Pro’ counterpart. Another difference you’ll notice are its bezels, which are thicker.

The Pixel 6 specifications include the Google Tensor chip, along with a flat AMOLED display

The Pixel 6 is fueled by the Google Tensor chip, the same as its sibling. This is Google’s very first mobile processor. The Titan M2 security coprocessor is also included. The Pixel 6 also includes 8GB of RAM (LPDDR5) and 128GB / 256GB of non-expandable storage (UFS 3.1).

You’ll find a 6.4-inch fullHD+ (2340 x 1080, 411 ppi) AMOLED display on the device. This is a 90Hz display, and it’s flat, as already mentioned. It’s protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus. This panel is inferior to the Pixel 6 Pro’s display, but it’s nothing to scoff at.

Android 12 comes pre-installed on the device (5 years of security updates), while a 4,614mAh battery can be found on the inside. Google included 30W fast wired charging support, and 23W wireless charging support. Do note that the phone comes without a charger, though.

The phone has three cameras overall

You’ll find two cameras on the back of this phone, and one on the front. A 50-megapixel wide-angle camera (1.2um pixel size, f/1.85 aperture, 82-degree FoV, ISOCELL GN1 sensor, OIS, EIS) sits on the back, along with a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera (1.25um pixel size, f/2.2 aperture, 114-degree FoV, OIS, EIS). The telephoto camera from the Pixel 6 Pro is missing. The other two units are identical to the Pro’s.

An 8-megapixel selfie camera (1.12um pixel size, f/2.0 aperture, fixed focus, 84-degree FoV) is also included. The phone does not support facial scanning, by the way. Speaking of security, an in-display fingerprint scanner is also a part of the package. It’s an optical fingerprint scanner.

Bluetooth 5.2 is supported here, while the Pixel 6 does support 5G connectivity as well. An NFC chip is located inside the phone too, as expected. The Pixel 6 does include a set of stereo speakers as well. IP68 certification for water and dust resistance is also included.

The Pixel 6 is not particularly compact

The Pixel 6 measures 158.6 x 74.8 x 8.9mm while it weighs 207 grams. It is not much smaller than the Pixel 6 Pro, which is an odd choice by Google, but there you have it. The device got announced in Kinda Coral, Sorta Seafoam, and Stormy Black color options.
