The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is Google’s second-gen foldable smartphone. It’s a direct successor to the Pixel Fold, and it launched today. We already talked about the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold in our announcement article, and are here to take a closer look at its specifications.

The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold specifications include Google’s SoC & 16GB of RAM

The phone is fueled by the Google Tensor G4 processor. That chip fuels all the other Pixel 9 phones too. The Tensor G4 comes with the Google Titan M2, a coprocessor in charge of security. The company also includes 16GB of RAM here. The phone comes in 256GB and 512GB storage options, though their availability will be market-dependent.

This phone has two displays, of course. The main display is an 8-inch Super Actua Flex panel. That is an OLED LTPO display, and it offers a resolution of 2076 x 2152. Its refresh rate goes from 1 to 120Hz, and the max brightness is set to 2,700 nits. HDR content is supported here, while Ultra Thin Glass sits on top of the display.

The cover display, on the other hand, measures 6.3 inches, and it’s an Actua display. This is also an OLED panel, though its refresh rate goes from 60 to 120Hz. The resolution here is 2424 x 1080, and the aspect ratio is 20:9. The Gorilla Glass Victus 2 covers this panel. The brightness goes up to 2,700 nits, and HDR content is supported.

21W charging is supported, but you won’t find a charger in the box

Google included a 4,650mAh battery here. The phone supports both wired and wireless charging. Its wired charging goes up to 21W, while wireless charging should cap out around that same wattage. Do note that the charger is not included in the box. Google does recommend its own 45W wired charger. You’ll need the Pixel Stand (2nd gen) in order to take full advantage of wireless charging.

Android 14 comes pre-installed here. Android 15 is not yet ready, but the Pixel 9 series will be the first to get it once it becomes ready to go. Google is promising 7 years of OS, security, and Pixel Drop updates for the phone.

There are three cameras included on the back, and they’re inferior to the Pixel 9 Pro (XL) setup

This phone has three cameras on its back. A 48-megapixel main camera (f/1.7 aperture, 82-degree FoV, 1/2-inch sensor size, OIS, EIS) sits on the back. A 10.5-megapixel ultrawide unit (f/2.2 aperture, 127-degree FoV, 1/3.4-inch sensor size) is also included on the back. The last camera there is a 10.8-megapixel periscope telephoto unit (f/3.1 aperture, 23-degree FoV, 1/3.2-inch sensor size, 5x optical zoom, Super Res Zoom up to 20x, OIS, EIS).

Each of the two displays has its own camera too. A 10-megapixel unit sits on each of the phone’s displays. Those cameras have an f/2.2 aperture lens and offer a FoV of 87 degrees.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is water resistant

The device is IPX8 certified for water resistance. Its back is covered by the Gorilla Glass Victus 2. A fingerprint scanner sits on the right-hand side, while Bluetooth 5.3 is included too. The phone also supports facial scanning thanks to its front-facing cameras.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a dual SIM setup. It has a nano SIM card slot, while eSIM is also supported. There are stereo speakers included on this phone, and Spatial audio is also supported. Wi-Fi 7 support is included, and the same goes for 5G.

When folded, the phone measures 155.2 x 77.1 x 10.5mm. When unfolded, it measures 155.2 x 150.2 x 5.1mm. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold weighs 257 grams and comes in two colors. You can choose between Obsidian (black) and Porcelain (white) models.
