How To Get Spotify Student (& Get Hulu + Showtime For Free)

Students get discounts on a lot of things. Which is nice, because most students don’t have a lot of money to spend anyways. And Spotify offers a student plan that is just $4.99/month – or about half the price of regular Spotify. It also includes Hulu and Showtime for free with the Spotify Student plan. Which is pretty impressive for just $5.

How can you get the Spotify Student plan though? And are you eligible for it? We’ll show you how you can sign up for it, and explain what exactly the plan is, in this tutorial.

What is the Spotify student plan?

Normally, Spotify would cost you $9.99 per month, but for students you can get the premium plan for $4.99 per month. But that’s not all, as the student plan does come with other benefits.

Of course, you get all of the usual benefits that comes with Spotify Premium, like the ad-free experience, on-demand playback and even play exactly what song you want.

On top of that, for now you can get Hulu and SHOWTIME included in your Spotify Student plan. That may change in the future. But for as long as you have your Spotify Student plan, you can get Hulu (with ads) and SHOWTIME included for free. That is a pretty good deal. Since Hulu is priced at $6.99 per month and SHOWTIME is $11.99 per month. That’s a $19 value there that you are getting for free. But, this is only available in the US.

How can I sign up for the Spotify Student plan?

Whether you’re a Spotify customer already or not, signing up for the student plan is pretty simple.

First off, create a Spotify account if you have not already done so.

Next, you’ll see an option to either upgrade to Premium, or to change your plan.

Scroll down to “Pick your Premium”. And you’ll see four different options available. This includes Individual, Duo, Family and Student. Click on the “Get Started” button for Student.

Next, you’ll be forced to verify you are a student, through SheerID. You’ll just need to fill out the form on this next page. Which asks about your name, email, country, school and a few other things.

Verification shouldn’t take long, and after you’re verified, you will now be on the Spotify Student plan.

Am I eligible?

If you are a student, and can prove that you are a student, then you will be eligible for Spotify Student. Keep in mind that you can only have Spotify Student for a maximum of four years. And you will need to verify that you are still a student each year. So you’ll only be able to have it while you are actually in school.
