Genshin Impact is a free-to-play game, which means it relies on a few different in-game currencies, and most of these you can redeem a code to acquire. It’s also a game with a great many things to do, and a large roster of characters, as well as a pretty decent arsenal of weapons and a huge collection of materials. And almost all of it can be purchased using these in-game currencies.
You might be asking yourself though, how do you redeem a code in Genshin Impact? The process once you know it, isn’t difficult. But HoYoverse doesn’t exactly put the code redemption front and center. Not that it needs to, but you won’t find it staring you in the face.
How to redeem a code in Genshin Impact
Getting to the code redemption screen is a few menus deep if you’re doing this in-game, so we’ve put together this guide to help you learn the short process. There’s also different ways to redeem a code. So we’ll walk you through them all.
Redeeming a code in-game on mobile
Launch the game and tap on the Paimon menu
You’ll find this in the top left corner of the screen, next to the mini-map, and above the button for the “in-progress” quests you have open.
Tap the settings menu
Look for the little cog icon and tap that, which will take you into the settings menu. You should see it along the side bar on the left along with camera mode, news, your mailbox etc.
Tap on the account menu
Now look for the account menu in settings. It’ll be the third menu from the bottom, just above resources and other.
Tap ‘Redeem Now’
Finally enter the redeem code menu by tapping on the “redeem now” portion of that bar. An omnibox will pop up and you’ll be able to paste your code here or just type it in manually. Once the code is typed or pasted, tap on the exchange button and the items from the code will be added to your account.
Redeeming a code in-game on PS4/PS5
Launch the game and open the Paimon menu
Start by launching the game, then hit the options button on your DualSense or DualShock 4 controller.
Open the settings menu
Now scroll down the side bar with the left thumbstick and open the settings menu. This is the little cog-shaped button down towards the bottom.
Open the account menu
Use your left thumbstick to scroll towards the bottom of the settings menu and find the account settings. Open this menu.
Open the redeem code menu
Finally, open the redeem code menu by highlighting and clicking on the redeem now portion of that bar. Then type in your code and once done, click on the exchange button. The items from the code will be added to your account.
Redeeming a code in-game on PC
Launch the game and open the Paimon menu
For PC, start by launching the game then hitting the ESC key on your keyboard to open the Paimon menu.
Click on the settings menu
Now click on the settings menu. This is that same cog-shaped button mentioned in the mobile method.
Click on the account menu
Look towards the bottom of the settings menu where you’ll find the account menu. Click on the account menu.
Click on ‘redeem now’
Now you’re at the last step. Inside the account menu, you will see an option for redeeming your code. Click on the ‘redeem now’ portion of that option. Then manually type or paste your code into omnibox field. Once you’re done, click on the exchange button. If entered successfully, the items from the code will be added to your account.
Redeeming a code from your browser
There is one last place you can redeem your code for Genshin Impact. In your browser. This can be done on mobile or on desktop.
Go to the Genshin Impact website
Launch your browser and go to the Genshin Impact website.
Click on the “official site” button
Next click on the official site button in the top right corner of the page.
Log in with your credentials
Next, log in to your account so the code can be sent to you. The log in button is located in the top right corner of the page, next to the download button.
Click on the redeem code tab
Finally, click on the redeem code tab. You can find this across the top set of pages in the top left. This will pop up an omnibox with a few different things. First you need to select your server. Then click on the “obtain character nickname” option. Since you’re already logged in this will populate your character nickname automatically.
Finally, manually type or paste the code in the third omnibar. Then click redeem. The items will be added to your account and should be available upon the next time you launch the game.
