So today, in this tutorial, we are going to show you how to reset your Amazon Fire TV Stick remote control. It’s a pretty easy thing to do, but depending on the model of remote that you have, it might be a bit different. So we will go over each version.

Before you reset your Fire TV Stick Remote

So before you go through the hassle of resetting your Fire TV Stick remote, it’s a good idea to check a few things. Like for example, the batteries. Make sure that the batteries aren’t dead or dying. That could be the reason why your Fire TV Stick Remote is not behaving as it should. And that’s a quick and cheap fix.

Next, try bringing your remote closer to your Fire TV Stick. These remotes do only work for a certain distance. So make sure that you aren’t too far away, as that could also be causing you some issues.

How to reset the Basic Edition Fire TV Remote

If you have the Basic Edition Fire TV Remote, which has six buttons and the D-Pad, then this is how you can reset it.

• Press and hold down the Home button and then press the Menu button three times.
• Let go of the Home button, and then press the Menu button nine times.
• Next, you will need to pull the batteries out of your remote.
• Then unplug your Fire TV Stick and wait for a minute.
• Now you can reinsert the batteries into your remote and plug your Fire TV Stick back in.
• Once your Fire TV Stick has booted up and the home screen appears, on your remote, press and hold down the Home button for about 40 seconds.

How to reset the 1st Generation Fire TV Stick Remote

If you have the first generation Fire TV Stick remote, it’s quite simple to reset it. This is the model with the microphone button at the top.

• Firstly, disconnect your Fire TV Stick’s power cord and wait one minute.
• Now, on your remote go ahead and press and hold down the left and Menu buttons at the same time for around 12 seconds.
• Let go of the buttons and wait for about five seconds.
• Now you can remove the remote’s batteries.
• Next, plug your Fire TV Stick back in, so that the device turns on, then wait one minute.
• After that minute has passed, place the batteries back into your remote.
• Press the Home button on your remote.

And now your remote should be fully reset and paired once again with your Fire TV Stick.

How to reset the 2nd, 3rd generation, Voice Remote Lite, Smart TV Remote and Soundbar Remote

• First, you’re going to want to disconnect your Fire TV Stick’s power cord and wait for about a minute or 60 seconds.
• On your remote, you’ll want to press and hold down the Left, Menu and Back buttons at the same time for 12 seconds.
• Now, let go of the buttons and wait five seconds.
• Remove your remote’s batteries.
• Now you can go ahead and plug your Fire TV Stick back in and turn on the device. Wait 60 seconds after that is done.
• Then go ahead and put the batteries back into your remote.
• Press the Home button on your remote.

Now your remote is going to be reset and re-paired with your Fire TV Stick. That should fix any issues you’re having.

Clear the cache

You can try clearing the cache on your Fire TV Stick. Sometimes in caching data, the data can become corrupt and cause issues with your device. So clearing the cache can fix this. Reset to factory settings

This will reset the Fire TV Stick back to its factory settings, like it was brand new from Amazon. It’ll take a few minutes, and hopefully should fix your issues.
