There could be a number of reasons why you would need to reset your Amazon Fire TV Stick Remote. Including the fact that it is just not working properly. Typically, the first thing you should do with any piece of tech after you start having issues, is to try turning it on and off, and then try resetting it. That usually fixes the issue.

So today, in this tutorial, we are going to show you how to reset your Amazon Fire TV Stick remote control. It’s a pretty easy thing to do, but depending on the model of remote that you have, it might be a bit different. So we will go over each version.

Before you reset your Fire TV Stick Remote

So before you go through the hassle of resetting your Fire TV Stick remote, it’s a good idea to check a few things. Like for example, the batteries. Make sure that the batteries aren’t dead or dying. That could be the reason why your Fire TV Stick Remote is not behaving as it should. And that’s a quick and cheap fix.

Next, try bringing your remote closer to your Fire TV Stick. These remotes do only work for a certain distance. So make sure that you aren’t too far away, as that could also be causing you some issues.

Finally, try unplugging the Fire TV and plugging it back in. A lot of times something as simple as a reboot can fix any issues you may have with the Fire TV Stick. Or really any piece of tech.

If your issues persist, here are other things to try

Now, it may not be your remote. It might be another issue that your Fire TV Stick is having. So here are some other things that you can try.

Clear the cache

You can try clearing the cache on your Fire TV Stick. Sometimes in caching data, the data can become corrupt and cause issues with your device. So clearing the cache can fix this. We have a tutorial on how to do that here. This will take a few minutes to do, and your Fire TV Stick will run a bit slower for a bit as it rebuilds that cache.

Reset to factory settings

This is usually the last resort, since you’ll need to redownload all of your apps and re-log in to them all. But if all else fails, you can also try doing a factory reset. This will reset the Fire TV Stick back to its factory settings, like it was brand new from Amazon. It’ll take a few minutes, and hopefully should fix your issues.

If that fails, then you may want to look at getting a new Fire TV device. Thankfully, they are pretty cheap. The Fire TV Stick 4K is usually around $40.
