How much does the Motorola Edge 50 cost?

The Motorola Edge 50 Fusion is going to be available across select European Markets starting at €399. While the Edge 50 Pro will start at €699, and the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra will start at €999.

Motorola has said that the Edge 50 lineup will come to the US, but there’s no word yet on when that will happen. It’ll likely be later this summer and launch as the Edge and Edge Plus, as they have in recent years.

New Motorola UX for Edge 50 Series

With the Motorola Edge 50 Series, the company is debuting a new UX for these phones. It’s called ‘Hello UX,’ which provides an intuitive and personalized user experience with customizable options, intuitive gestures, and a safe environment for kids with Family Space.

Of course, the new Motorola UX includes moto ai which is the company’s suite of AI features. In addition to that, Smart Connect is also on board. This is a new software application that integrates Lenovo and Motorola’s ecosystem for a unified and seamless multi-device experience. This allows you to make calls, send/receive texts, and share files effortlessly between a Lenovo computer and a Motorola phone or a Lenovo tablet. Motorola actually demoed this at MWC 2024 in Barcelona, and it seemed to work really well.

moto ai

The big new buzzword this year is “AI” and with Google having built a number of AI features with Gemini, we’re seeing a lot of phones launch with the same features this year, and that’s still true for Motorola.

With the Edge 50 series, Motorola is debuting ‘moto ai’ which is their suite of AI features. Motorola says that this “works its magic behind the scenes to elevate every interaction by empowering users to intuitively create content, personalize their device, obtain the information they seek, and accomplish more in less time.”

There are a ton of AI features within the camera app, which includes advancements in image quality with Motorola’s most advanced solutions for capturing motion. It also includes a generative theming engine, which is the same as we’ve seen on the Pixel 8 series and Galaxy S24 series.

Within the Google Photos app, there are a number of features available for free (starting on May 15). This includes Magic Editor, Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, and much more.

Motorola Edge 50 is the first Pantone Validated Camera and Display Smartphone

Motorola has been working a lot with Pantone in recent years, and now the Edge 50 (Fusion, Pro, and Ultra) are the first Pantone Validated Camera and Display smartphones on the market. But what does that mean?

Pantone is what designers use for colors. This ensures that the colors they are using on one platform are the same on another. Imagine you’re designing a T-shirt using one color, but it might print out as another color. Using Pantone colors makes that a lot easier. So Pantone Validated extends Pantone’s color expertise to the evaluation of color systems where manufacturers have integrated color correction into their technology.

In fact, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is available in the Pantone color of the year for 2024 – Peach Fuzz.

Is there a charger included in the box?

Motorola is surprisingly, keeping the charger in the box for the Motorola Edge 50 family. However, that does depend on the market. Motorola is saying “select countries” will get their TurboPower charger in the box.

For the Edge 50 Fusion, that’s a 68W TurboPower charger; for the Pro and Ultra, it’s a 125W TurboCharger. However, every Edge 50 Ultra comes with a 125W charger in the box, which is good to see.

The Edge 50 Pro and Edge 50 Ultra can charge at up to 125W wired or 50W wireless. Meanwhile, the Edge 50 Fusion is stuck at 68W wired and has no wireless option.

Should you buy the Motorola Edge 50?

Right now, it’s hard to say whether or not you should buy the Edge 50 Fusion, Edge 50 Pro, or Edge 50 Ultra, as we do not have any of these devices in hand and have not reviewed them. However, the Edge 50 Ultra does look very promising, as does the Edge 50 Fusion, in terms of its price.

The cameras on the Edge 50 Ultra look really impressive, with a 64-megapixel telephoto lens that can do 3x zoom. It should offer an excellent camera experience, which is really the only thing that Motorola is missing at this point.

As mentioned before, the Edge 50 series will be coming to the US in the near future, as confirmed by Motorola. However, we don’t expect it to launch under the same name. The Edge 50 Fusion likely won’t launch in the US, while the Edge 50 Pro might launch as the Edge (2024) and the Edge 50 Ultra as the Edge Plus (2024).
