As most of you know, OnePlus and OPPO are sister companies. Both companies are owned by BBK Electronics, and their flagship phones have never been more similar. OxygenOS 12 looks quite similar to ColorOS 12.1, and the two phones we’ll talk about in this article, do have some similarities. They’re not the same, though, of course, and there are quite a few differences as well. In this article, we’ll compare the OnePlus 10 Pro vs OPPO Find X5 Pro.
These are the best phones these two companies have to offer at the moment. Both have been announced in H1 this year. Now, both of these smartphones have truly powerful specifications, and both look and feel like quality pieces of hardware. We’ll start things off by listing their specifications, and then we’ll move to compare them in various other categories. Let’s kick off the OnePlus 10 Pro vs OPPO Find X5 Pro comparison, shall we?

OnePlus 10 Pro vs OPPO Find X5 Pro: Design
The OnePlus 10 Pro and OPPO Find X5 Pro do look similar from the front but are considerably different when you flip them over. Both phones have curved corners and a display camera hole in the top-left corner. Both offer curved displays and extremely thin bezels. The OnePlus 10 Pro does come with an alert slider, which is not present on the OPPO Find X5 Pro. Other physical buttons are in similar spots, though.
Both smartphones come with a metal frame, though OnePlus’ flagship feels completely different in the hand, at least in its black model, due to its backplate. It’s actually softer-feeling, and more grippy overall, while there’s ceramic on the back of the Find X5 Pro, at least when it comes to its global model. Depending on the variant, the OPPO Find X5 Pro is either slightly lighter or considerably heavier than the OnePlus 10 Pro. Its heavier model does come with a ceramic backplate, while the other variant includes a Vegan Leather backplate.
The two phones have very similar dimensions. They’re almost identical in terms of height, while they’re exactly the same when it comes to width. They’re also almost identical in terms of thickness. The OnePlus 10 Pro rear camera module is an extension of the phone’s frame and seems to be inspired by some Samsung smartphones. The OPPO Find X5 Pro also has an interesting camera module design, as it seems like it’s growing outside of the phone’s body, gradually climbing.
Both phones feel extremely premium in the hand, though the Find X5 Pro is a bit more slippery. It’s also heavier (its global model), so do take that into account.
OnePlus 10 Pro vs OPPO Find X5 Pro: Display
The displays on these two phones are… well, seemingly identical, in terms of hardware. They are branded differently, though. Both phones include a 6.7-inch curved QHD+ (3216 x 1440) AMOLED display with a 20:9 display aspect ratio, and a 120Hz refresh rate. Both displays are protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, and both offer support for HDR10+ content. Lastly, both get up to the same brightness of 1,300 nits (max).
The OnePlus 10 Pro’s panel is officially called the LTPO2 Fluid AMOLED display, while the OPPO Find X5 Pro’s is called the LTPO2 AMOLED display. Both displays also support up to 1 billion colors. The screen-to-body ratio is slightly different, though, it’s slightly higher on the OnePlus 10 Pro, 90-percent vs 89.6-percent. That’s not exactly a difference you’ll end up noticing in real life, though.
So, are the displays any good in use? They’re not good, they’re excellent, to say the least. Both offer great touch response, and a high refresh rate, which results in buttery smooth scrolling and experience. They both offer great, punchy colors, and are more than sharp enough. The viewing angles are great, and the blacks are as deep as you’d expect them to be. On top of all that, they get up to the same brightness, and the content looks similar on them. We don’t have a single complaint in this regard.
OnePlus 10 Pro vs OPPO Find X5 Pro: Performance
What about the performance? Both of these phones come with high-end specs, and the best SoC Qualcomm has to offer at the moment. You’d expect them to perform admirably, right? Well, you’d be right to expect that, as they do. Both phones offer excellent performance, to say the least. Both devices are fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, and come with plenty of LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 flash storage.
Android 12 comes pre-installed on both, and even though they do offer different skins, under the surface, they’re also somewhat similar (the same codebase). Both devices offer great performance, no matter what you do. They can multitask at great speeds, while browsing, consuming multimedia, and regular, everyday tasks, are not a problem whatsoever. Even if you’re a gamer, you’ll find both of these phones quite accommodating. Both can run any game on the Play Store at the highest of settings, without a problem.
They do heat up to a degree when you’re gaming, but they never became too hot for us to use, or anything of the sort. We also didn’t notice the impact on performance when they heat up, which is a good sign. Both devices are expected to keep this level of performance for quite some time, but we’ll see.
OnePlus 10 Pro vs OPPO Find X5 Pro: Battery
Even when it comes to the battery capacity, these two phones are the same. They both include a 5,000mAh battery. Don’t let that fool you, though, as the battery life is considerably different in comparison, at least in our experience. The OnePlus 10 Pro ended up offering considerably better battery life, in our testing. The phone was able to cross the 7-hour screen-on-time mark on more than one occasion, which is, needless to say, impressive.
The OPPO Find X5 Pro, on the other hand, got closer to 6 hours of screen-on-time. Do note that the two phones were reviewed by two different people, so we did not have the same usage nor the same conditions around us. So, your mileage may differ quite a bit, as is usually the case when it comes to battery life. That’s why it’s not exactly the best idea to take these numbers to heart.
Even if you do run out of battery during the day, the charging is so fast here, chances are most of you won’t even care. You’re getting 80W fast wired charging (the OnePlus 10 Pro offers 65W wired charging in the US) here, in addition to 50W fast wireless charging. So, regardless of what method you end up using, chances are you’ll be happy with the results. Both devices also support 10W reverse wireless charging.
OnePlus 10 Pro vs OPPO Find X5 Pro: Cameras
Both of these phones include three cameras on the back. The OnePlus 10 Pro comes with a 48-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera. The OPPO Find X5 Pro, on the flip side, features a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit, and a 13-megapixel telephoto camera. Hasselblad is involved in both of these phones, and that does result in great-looking colors in both cases.
During the day, both phones do a great job. The colors are lively, yet not oversaturated, while both phones capture plenty of detail. The foliage detail is also spot on, while the OnePlus 10 Pro did tend to oversaturate things every once in a while (rarely), but that could be patched up via an update. In low light, the main camera performs admirably on both phones. Both of them have a night mode and can light up a scene a lot, it’s up to you really.
When it comes to the ultrawide camera, things are a bit different. The OnePlus 10 Pro’s offers a 150-degree FoV, which means you’ll be getting a fisheye look. You can opt for a more regular aspect, but you’ll just get a cut-off image from that 150-degree FoV. The OPPO Find X5 Pro goes for a 110-degree FoV, which could be a bit wider considering that this is an ultrawide camera. Most of you will probably opt to stick with the main camera.
We preferred images from the OPPO Find X5 Pro’s telephoto camera, even though OnePlus’ technically offers more zoom. When it comes to video, both do a great job, though the OnePlus 10 Pro does have some sort of a bug at 4K recording with the main camera, as the footage ends up being shaky. The last update may have fixed it, though.
Audio
Both phones do offer stereo speakers, and those speakers are actually quite good. They’re more than loud enough, the distortion is not present, not even at the highest of volumes. The sound is rich enough, and it’s also well balanced. All in all, neither of the two phones provides the best sound from stereo speakers we’ve heard (on a smartphone), but they’re both really good in that regard.
What about an audio jack? Well, you’re not getting it on either device. That is to be expected when it comes to 2022 flagships, though, so it’s not surprising. You can utilize the Type-C port either via a dongle or directly, or simply use Bluetooth.
