OnePlus 10T vs Apple iPhone 14: Design

The OnePlus 10T comes with a plastic frame, and a glass back. The iPhone 14 combines its metal frame with a glass back. The shapes of these two phones are completely different. The OnePlus 10T is curvier, while the iPhone 14 has flat sides. It’s actually flat all around, that goes for all of its sides. Both phones are quite slippery, but the iPhone 14 is easier to use in one hand due to its size. It’s much smaller. It is also almost 30 grams lighter, which is to be expected considering its size.

From the front, the OnePlus 10T arguably looks a bit better. It has a small display camera hole, compared to the notch on the iPhone 14. It also seemingly has thinner bezels. They look quite different overall, even when we flip them around. The OnePlus 10T has a triple camera setup in the top-left corner, and it seems like its camera island protrudes from the side. The iPhone 14 has a more regular-looking camera island in the top-left corner, with two cameras in it.

The OnePlus 10T has less curved corners, but it’s more curved in every other way. Both phones have flat displays. The OnePlus 10T includes an in-display fingerprint scanner, while the iPhone 14 doesn’t have one at all. It relies on advanced facial scanning, which is one of the reasons it has such a large notch. Both phones do feel premium in the hand, but do note that the OnePlus 10T is a lot larger. That goes for its height and width, while it’s 1mm thicker in comparison. Considering the polar opposite designs here, it’s a matter of preference, really.

OnePlus 10T vs Apple iPhone 14: Display

The OnePlus 10T includes a 6.7-inch fullHD+ (2412 x 1080) Fluid AMOLED display. That panel is flat, and it offers a 120Hz refresh rate. The OnePlus 10T’s display does support HDR10+ content, and we’re looking at a 20:9 display aspect ratio here. This panel is protected by the Gorilla Glass 5, in case you were wondering.

The iPhone 14, on the flip side. Includes a 6.1-inch fullHD+ (2532 x 1170) Super Retina XDR OLED display. This panel is also flat, though it offers a 60Hz refresh rate. It does not offer a high refresh rate like the OnePlus 10T. The iPhone 14’s display supports HDR10 content, and Dolby Vision as well. It gets up to 1,200 nits of brightness, and we’re looking at a 19.5:9 display aspect ratio here. This display is protected by the Ceramic Shield glass protection.

Both panels do get quite bright outdoors, though they’re not the brightest displays around, not at all. The OnePlus 10T’s panel is visibly more fluid when scrolling thanks to its high refresh rate, though Apple did a great job optimizing this 60Hz panel. Technically the OnePlus 10T does have a better panel, though both look quite great. They offer great viewing angles, and are quite vivid at the same time. The touch response is good on both phones.

OnePlus 10T vs Apple iPhone 14: Performance

Both of these phones are immensely powerful. The OnePlus 10T is fueled by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. At the time of writing this article, that’s still Qualcomm’s most powerful processor. The device also includes up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 flash storage. The iPhone 14 is fueled by the Apple A15 Bionic SoC, while it comes with 6GB of RAM and up to 512GB of NVMe storage.

Both devices shine when it comes to performance. That goes for basically all use cases. Regardless of whether you’re just browsing the Internet, multitasking, or editing images, these two phones deliver. They’re immensely smooth in day-to-day performance. They shine even when it comes to gaming. These two devices can run basically any game available in their respective app stores, and do a great job of running them. The OnePlus 10T and iPhone 14 are some of the best-performing phones on the market at the moment.

OnePlus 10T vs Apple iPhone 14: Battery

The OnePlus 10T packs in a 4,800mAh battery, while the iPhone 14 includes a 3,279mAh battery pack. Do note that iOS handles battery life entirely differently, though, and that the iPhone 14 is considerably smaller. That being said, the OnePlus 10T does offer better battery life, but that doesn’t mean the iPhone 14 battery life is bad, though, not at all. The OnePlus 10T is in a league of its own.

We’ve awarded the OnePlus 10T with the ‘Best battery life smartphone 2022” award for a reason. While we were using the phone, we were able to get over 10 hours of screen-on-time from it, on a number of occasions. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and OnePlus’ optimizations do wonders for this smartphone. That is really difficult to compete with, but the iPhone 14 does offer a really good battery life. Your mileage may vary, but you should be able to get around 7 hours of screen-on-time, if you’re not a gamer. As already mentioned, your mileage may vary with both smartphones, as you do use different apps, have different usage in general, different signal, and so on.

What about charging? Well, in terms of speed, the OnePlus 10T flies way above the iPhone 14. This phone delivers 150W fast wired charging (125W in the US). It does not offer wireless charging, though. The iPhone 14 supports 20W charging (unofficially), 15W MagSafe wireless charging, and 7.5W Qi wireless charging. The OnePlus 10T does come with a charger in the box, while the iPhone 14 does not.

OnePlus 10T vs Apple iPhone 14: Cameras

The OnePlus 10T has three cameras on the back. It includes a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The iPhone 14 sports a 12-megapixel main camera, and a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera. The ultrawide cameras on these two phones have the same field-of-view, by the way, a 120-degree FoV.

So, how do they compare? Well, the OnePlus 10T’s main camera performance improved considerably since launch. It was not as reliable back then, but after a few updates, it’s actually a really good camera. That goes for both daylight and nighttime. It’s not the best out there, not at all. The iPhone 14 does still offer more realistic images, while neither phone shines in HDR conditions. That’s where the Pixel 7 Pro has the edge. Both phones tend to use sharpening a bit too much in certain scenarios.

The iPhone 14’s ultrawide camera does a noticeably better job, and it keeps the same color science as the main camera. The OnePlus 10T’s macro camera is not exactly something you’ll be using often. It can be useful in perfect light, but other than that, you should stay away from it. When it comes to video recording, the iPhone 14 has the edge.

Audio

You will find two speakers on both of these phones. One bottom-facing, and the other front-facing. Speakers on both devices sound really good, actually. They’re loud enough, and they’re also well-balanced, so we can’t complain much.

What you will not find on either device is a 3.5mm headphone jack. You’ll have to use a Type-C port for wired audio connections. If you prefer to do things wirelessly, there’s always Bluetooth here that you can count on. The OnePlus 10T offers Bluetooth 5.2, while the iPhone 14 comes with Bluetooth 5.3.
