The leaks were true, Samsung is giving us a larger front display on the Galaxy Z Flip 5, and it’s getting a new name too. It’s now called the “Flex Window”. Which makes perfect sense, as this is kind of like a window into your phone.

This new display is about 3.4-inches, which makes it about three times larger than the cover display from the Galaxy Z Flip 4. It covers basically the entire front of the phone, except for the cameras. It does have Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on-board to protect it. So it should stay in good shape for quite some time.

What can you do with the Flex Window?

Naturally, you want to know what you can do with the new Flex Window on the Galaxy Z Flip 5. And well, quite a bit. But not quite as much as the Razr+ allows you to do.

Samsung didn’t through the kitchen sink at this display. Instead, it has about 12 full-screen widgets that you can use, and a handful of apps that work on that outer display. The apps that are supported right now include Google Maps, Google Messages, WhatsApp, YouTube, and Netflix. Samsung has said that they will add more over time.

The company is treating this display a lot like a wearable display. So if you use a Galaxy Watch, you’ll feel right at home here. As you can swipe down for quick settings, or swipe up for Samsung Wallet. You can also swipe right for notifications and left for you widgets. Samsung will also allow you to pinch in and see all of your widgets at once.

If you’re a Samsung user, you likely have used the app Good Lock before, to customize your device. With Good Lock, the customization options are basically endless. And that is coming to the Galaxy Z Flip 5. Which will allow you to customize the Flex Window as much as you want.
