Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Esports Team made its debut in the SRO Esports series to kick-start what will be its most extensive virtual racing campaign to date.
Competing at Misano on the PC version of Assetto Corsa Competizione, driver Manuel Biancolilla qualified 15th in a 48-car field for the first of the five events in the series.
With a strong start to the season-opener, the Italian advanced to 12th place on the first lap and continued to make progress throughout the one-hour race.
When the pit window opened with 45 minutes remaining, Manuel was shy of the top 10 in 11th position but filtered forward to eighth in the face of a variety of different strategies.
Manuel Biancolilla joins
Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Esports Team returns with an exciting new look ahead of the biggest virtual racing campaign in Team Silverstone's history, and Manuel Biancolilla is the first driver to join.
Opting to stay out longer in favour of the overcut, he boxed for his mandatory pitstop in the 38th minute to rejoin in 23rd.
Manuel was locked in a competitive battle for the closing quarter and ultimately took the chequered flag in 23rd place to finish 16th in the Pro class.
The 2022 SRO Esports Europe Sprint series will resume on 4 May at Zandvoort.
