You think Apple's new Airpods look like toothbrushes, tiny shower heads... and Snoopy

Wireless "Airpods" were the most talked about announcement at Apple's latest iPhone launch.

The company is removing the headphone jack from the iPhone 7 and introducing its own wireless technology.

Users will still be able to plug in regular headphones through the lightning port (the charging hole) - but only with an adaptor.

Socket rage across social media was inevitable - not least because the new headphones will cost £159 a pair.

Below is what the new earphones actually look like - and the funniest responses.

Hair dryers, toothbrushes, Snoopy... what DO they look like?

You could almost get entirely ready for work using some of these alternative uses for Apple's new creation.

First you have a shower...

Then you dry your hair...

Finally you brush your teeth...

But if Xyer is correct, they'll not be around for long.

Lots of people think they'll lose them

And we would have lost them if it wasn't for those pesky kids.

Let's talk fashion

They're going to make us look old school according to Simon!

We didn't even think about that Briana, now you've got us worried!

And long gone will be the art of looking like you're listening to something to avoid being spoken to.

So how did Apple come up with the design?

Well this is one theory.

Hmm.... maybe not.

Mondaze thinks there's an easy way to avoid the £159 price tag.

Kenney worries about what is to come.

The practicalities are a common talking point

Perhaps it's best if Ross doesn't upgrade.

That'll be no listening to music in the park for Charlynn.

Unless Dami is around with this great idea.

Kishan, you have a very good point.

Did we mention you need an adaptor to plug in your existing headphones? Tommy is raging.

Not everyone thinks they're a bad idea...

We hate this too, so maybe you're onto something Kit.

One day we'll be nostalgic about the headphone jack in the same way we are (are we?) about the floppy disc.

How else to end, but on this slightly sombre note...

Alex, we're with you. Rest in peace aux cord.
