The challenge with this spring wedding was to marry the edgy, industrial vibes of Boston’s SoWa Power Station with the sweet florals and youthful new life of the season. “We discussed color schemes, floral arrangements, and decor elements that would harmonize the industrial chic with an ombre burst of color and life,” Samantha Curtis, Owner of Sarue Event Design says.
“The color palette drew inspiration from Boston’s signature red-brick backdrop, interlacing it with lush greens and delicate peach hues that subtly mirror the Public Gardens in their spring bloom,” Curtis says. Ultimately, Curtis and the couple decided to bring in vibrant yellows and the Pantone color of the year, Peach Fuzz, to their color palette.
For this event, the aesthetics of the bar brought the look together to create a show-stopping display of both class and sweet romance—they opted for a gradient pink, orange, and yellow cocktail by The Catered Affair. “Displayed on Party Rental Ltd.’s Metropolis Back Bar, the hues echoed a spring sunrise, infusing the space with warmth as well as engaging guests as an interactive element,” Curtis says.

Candlelit and Classic: Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor

Owner of Contagious Events Joe Rogers tells us that his bottom line when it comes to the look of a wedding is individuality and originality. “I want our clients’ wedding guests to walk into a space, take it all in, and have no doubt that every element of the design was curated specifically for the couple.”
So, as this couple was aiming for a traditional atmosphere, Rogers took on the challenge of achieving an original look despite the emphasis on classic themes.
Rogers tells us that the planning around this event started by nailing down the timing of the ceremony. “In talking about design with our clients, romance is often a word that gets thrown around,” he says. “We often talk about candlelight and mood lighting, but candlelight is a hard detail to work with for an outdoor ceremony in broad daylight.”
So, he worked with the couple to open their minds to an evening ceremony that could still be held outdoors without being too dark. This gave Rogers an interesting challenge to overcome, and it yielded satisfying results. “For dining tables, we flipped the traditional format upside down,” Rogers says. “Instead of lighting from overhead and flowers on the table, we suspended the flowers and had the lighting down the table where a garland or floral runner would be.” On these tables, he chose Party Rental Ltd.’s Van Gogh Blue Reversible Print. Garden Romance: New England Botanical Garden at Tower Hill

“As a wedding planner and designer, my primary objective when assisting clients in choosing design elements is to ensure that their personal style, preferences, and vision for their special day are fully realized,” says Event Producer Samantha Curtis, Owner of Sarue Event Design. For this wedding, nature was the main character in the couple’s story and, thus, the inspiration behind the theme.
This couple first met in a hiking group and love exploring nature, so Curtis wanted to utilize much of the New England Botanical Garden’s grounds to encourage guests to do the same. “The lush greenery, variety of exotic plants, and tranquil ambiance served as a canvas to create a wedding that was not only luxurious but also ethereal, giving an almost otherworldly charm,” Curtis says.
Curtis tells us that they focused on the floral-lined staircase to usher the wedding party into the ceremony space. As a party favor, they decided on a meaningful and botanical bouquet: “Custom escort bud vases featuring calligraphy by BL Calligraphy allowed guests to take home some of the bride’s favorite blooms,” Curtis says.
To bring the aesthetic ensemble of the wedding together, Curtis relied heavily on curated furniture and decor. “We opted for elegant, vintage pieces with a touch of modernity to create a refined yet eclectic look,” Curtis says. “The use of luxurious fabrics, such as the Dandelion Green Print linen from Party Rental Ltd., antique china, and subtle metallics added a touch of opulence, while the bouncy whimsical floral arrangements by Be Grow Co kept the overall look grounded.”
