Vantaa, city, southern Finland, just north of Helsinki. Located in the estuary of the Vantaa River, it was incorporated as a city in 1972. Notable landmarks are the Church of St. Lauri (1492), the Parish of Helsinki Museum, and the Finnish Aviation Museum. Vantaa is connected with Helsinki and Lahti by motorways and railways. Helsinki-Vantaa airport is located in Vantaa. The city is also an important manufacturing centre. Pop. (2005 est.) 185,429.
