So, you know Charli xcx? She rose to fame in the mid-2010s through hits like "I Love It" with Icona Pop and "Fancy" with Iggy Azalea? She's in her major resurgence era, and I am LIVING FOR IT.

And obviously you remember Lorde, another supremely talented singer who rose to fame around the same time as Charli xcx? Yeah. Well. In case you've been living under a rock (or didn't spend every day on Tumblr in 2014): the Internet has compared and mixed up the two singers since what feels like the dawn of time.

So yeah, the two women have appeared to be in this weird, industry-made battle. And this isn't uncommon — Hollywood looooves to pit women against each other. Take Taylor Swift and Beyonce, or Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez. But normally, these celebs don't really address the situation much, instead waiting for the conflict to diffuse.
BUT. I HOPE YOU'RE SITTING DOWN. Because in an epic power move, Charli xcx and Lorde have absolutely annihilated all the haters by doing something few people have the guts to do: get raw and real about their feelings, alongside the person everyone is pitting them against.
Let me explain. On her new album BRAT, which came out on June 7, Charli xcx released a song called "Girl, so confusing," which expresses mixed emotions over the public's comparisons of one woman to another. In the song, Charli sings that although "people say" they're "alike," sometimes she feels like she and the other person "might hate" one another. Sound familiar?

Some other notable lyrics include: "They say we've got the same hair" (which, yes, people do say Lorde and Charli xcx have the same hair), and, "One day we might make some music / The internet would go crazy." And some of us didn't realize that was MAJOR FORESHADOWING.

So we shouldn't have been surprised when, on June 21, Charli xcx released a new version of that song — but featuring none other than LORDE HERSELF. The new version is called "The girl, so confusing version with lorde," and not only do the two sing together, but Lorde gets her own verse.

In Lorde's verse, she discusses how the two planned to "work it out on the remix" (breaking the fourth wall!), and how she feels "trapped in the hatred" of her body. Lorde also expresses being envious of Charli xcx, singing, "Your life seemed so awesome," and says she was "speechless" when Charli sent her a "voice note" about the situation.

So yeah — ICYMI, Charli xcx and Lorde are two mature, iconic queens who are rising above to give the fans exactly what they want. I'm calling this the perfect resolution, and something I know 2010s Tumblr girlies will be talking about for decades.
