Here 15 Of My "Controversial" Pop Culture Opinions, And, Yes, I Will Die On Each Of These Hills

Billboard charts do NOT determine the quality of a musician's work.

Hello there! I'm Ajani, a lover of TV, movies, and music, and I have a lot of things to get off of my mind. So below, I've listed some of my "controversial" opinions related to pop culture, along with polls so you can vote on how divisive my opinions truly are. Let's see if you guys have the same pop culture pet peeves as me!

A person with short curly hair wearing a black graphic T-shirt with "Reservation Jazz Band" on it, posing indoors while making a peace sign

    1. It’s weird that TV shows and movies are edited ~after~ they’re released because they received a negative piece of criticism.

Elsa from Frozen and a long-haired woman react in surprise to "The 'Mean Girls' joke Lindsay Lohan hated has been removed from the digital version."

    2. It's time for us as a society to move past spinoffs and reboots series.

Karen saying she dreamed that Will and Grace were married and they each had kids and Will saying that never happened

    3. Songs are becoming way too short.

Tyla's song "Art" is playing on a music app. The album cover features Tyla in a semi-transparent outfit, reclining and looking upwards, with long, curly hair

    4. A song should almost always have a bridge.

Destiny's Child members Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams sit on a bench in stylish, casual outfits in front of lockers, smiling and singing

    5. Most movies today do not need to be longer than 90 minutes.

Batman in his suit stands against a dusk-lit cityscape

    6. We need more romcoms in the theaters!

Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell sharing a warm, smiling gaze at each other. Sydney wears a gold hoop earring, and Glen wears a white collared shirt

    7. Most original series on streaming platforms need to have 13 episodes per season AT THE VERY LEAST.

Nicola Coughlan sits by a window wearing a puff-sleeved period dress in a reflective and pensive pose with wavy hair cascading over her shoulders

    8. It's weird (and wrong) that music on streaming platforms can be edited or removed by the artist or label.

Beyoncé performs on stage, wearing a shimmering dress with matching gloves, holding a microphone

    9. The normalization of "sped-up" song versions needs to be undone.

Three split-screen images show: SZA's sped-up version of "Kill Bill," Sabrina Carpenter's sped-up version of "Nonsense," and RAYE, 070 Shake's sped-up version of "Escapism."

    10. We need to bring back PROPER music remixes.

A split screen of Spotify tracks: "The Boy is Mine" by Brandy and Monica on the left, "Savage Remix" by Megan Thee Stallion featuring Beyoncé on the right

    11. AI covers of songs with another artist "singing" on them are so creepy and kind of disrespectful.

YouTube video listings with titles for AI covers from Beyoncé, SZA, Aaliyah, and Victoria Monét. Views, upload dates, and channel names included

    12. Leaking an artist's songs that they didn't plan to release is so disrespectful.

Text: All Miley Cyrus Unreleased songs. Vyltia Kuromi. Playlist. Miley Cyrus - Mirror (Better For Loving You) (Audio) - 4:39. Miley Cyrus - I Owe It All To You (Unreleased) - 4:21. View Full Playlist

    13. Music charts do not determine how good an artist is.

    14. Movies go from the theater to streaming way too quickly these days.

Top image: Zendaya, wearing a necklace and light blue shirt, shouts in a crowded setting. Bottom image: Zendaya with dirt-streaked face, looking serious in a desert landscape

    15. We shouldn't completely move away from the TV-binging model that streaming services were known for.

Text: "Only on Netflix" written in white and red letters on a black background

Now tell me, what are some of YOUR controversial pop culture opinions?
