Paul Walter Hauser Issued A Long Apology For His "Mean-Spirited" Vin Diesel Comments

"I no longer feel that way and am genuinely sorry for shooting my mouth off and not showing love to Vin, who I do not know and have never met."

At this point, Paul Walter Hauser is an accomplished and fairly well-known character actor. Whether he's the lead or he's only popping in whatever you're watching for five minutes, you know he's going to do something interesting.

He's also fairly unpredictable off-screen. Remember when he rapped(?!) his acceptance speech for Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie at last year's Emmys?

Another good example of his say-anything-do-anything approach to public appearances is this interview clip with CinemaBlend in which he randomly called out Vin Diesel for unprofessional behavior. You can watch it below:

"Please don't say that. I like to think I'm on time and approachable," Hauser said with a laugh when the interviewer compared his voice work in Inside Out 2 with Vin's own approach. "Sorry, I love people, but when I hear stories about Hollywood actors who get paid really well and mistreat people, I out them constantly. And it's a blast."

Now, "randomly" more than applies when referring to Paul's comments — because, to date, he and Vin have not starred in a single project together. At all.

So, yeah, strange stuff — and the same could arguably be said for Paul's lengthy, "I ain't reading all that"-esque apology that he recently shared to Instagram, which was shared alongside (of course) a Bible verse.

"A few weeks back, I made a random comment about Vin Diesel," Paul wrote. "It started somewhat humorous, but unraveled into me dogging him out over behavior I had heard about on multiple occasions from multiple sources."

Paul attributed his comments to exhaustion stemming from the relentless promotional schedule behind Inside Out 2, and claimed that he'd been running on basically one hour of sleep total. That'll do it!

"I was exhausted and, in my fatigued state, I shot my mouth off and made a careless, needlessly mean-spirited, comment," he admitted. "That comment was recorded and then went viral."

"I apologize," he wrote directly to Vin. "Thank you for entertaining so many people and making them happy. I’m trying to do the same."

"Time for me to be quiet," he concluded. "I sometimes talk myself into idiocy."

Fair enough! If you want, you can read the whole apology here.
