7 Extremely Wild Dating Shows That Every Millennial Probably Remembers That I Don't Think Any Gen Z'er Would Be Ready For

Concept: A mobile dating show where a male or female contestant is met with five eager daters on the Next bus. Viewers get a first look at the daters, their ages, and three of their quirky personality traits. 

The contestant gets to decide if they want to get to know the dater or Next them — this can happen immediately as the dater steps off the bus or halfway through the date. Daters get $1 for every minute they last with the contestant. Ultimately, if the contestant offers to go on a second date with a contestant, they can either take the money or go on the second date.

Concept: A single contestant is looking for love, so what better way to learn about a potential match than by going through their room filled with their personal belongings? Three potential daters are snatched from their homes and thrown in a van as they watch the contestant raid their room via a TV in the van.

Once the contestant finishes rummaging through all three rooms, the daters have an opportunity to raid the contestant's room. The contestant then decides who they want to go on a date with.

Concept: What's a better way to get to know a potential partner than by spending time with the person who probably knows them the most — their mom. So, three moms go on a date with one contestant with hopes that the contestant will want to pick their son or daughter to go on a real date. The moms offer details about their child while taking the contestant on a date they think their child would like. Then at the end of the episode, a limo pulls up with the moms, while their children sit inside. The potential daters are only revealed after the contestant has chosen a mom. 

Concept: Another show where parents are at the forefront of the dating experience, except this time, both parents have a say in the matter. This show follows parents who can't stand their son or daughter's current partner. So, in a way to get rid of them, each parent gets to send their child on a blind date of their choosing. Both parents get to vet a string of potential daters before choosing one for their child. Then, at the end, their son or daughter decides if they want to pursue something with one of the blind daters or continue their relationship with their current partner.

Concept: Probably the most earnest dating show out of them all, Friendzone is all about contestants trying to get out of that very place. Contestants who have crushes on their best friends not only get super vulnerable by revealing their feelings for the other person, but they're then allowed to take that friend on a date. Afterward, the unsuspecting friend gets to decide if they want to remain friends or explore a new relationship with them.

Concept: A contestant can date two potential suitors, but the daters don't know that the contestant's best friend is hiding in a van listening to their entire conversation. The show is about telling the truth, so the dates are hooked up to a lie detector. The contestant is wearing an earpiece, which allows the best friend to inform her when or if the dates lie. The dates are put in the hot seat as the contestant asks them juicy, personal questions.

Concept: Pictured above is Flavor of Love, starring rapper and hype man Flavor Flav of the legendary rap group Public Enemy. Think The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, but with a celebrity as the focal point. Twenty single women compete for the attention and affection of Flavor Flav until he finally decides on one.
