    The series adaptation follows a 25-year-old Black British Jamaican woman named Queenie Jenkins as she navigates dating, moving up in her career, family trauma, friendships, and, above all, her mental health. The exploration of womanhood seen in the book (of the same name) and TV show is both daunting and therapeutic.

    Despite receiving some online criticism for Queenie's problematic choices, the main character is also being praised for the realistic depictions of what it's like trying to balance your life when everything seems to be falling apart.
