Tennis icon Serena Williams hosted last night's 2024 ESPYs, and she kept the audience laughing from beginning to end.
And two athletes who frequently appeared in her playful roasts throughout the night were her close friend, NBA superstar LeBron James, and his son Bronny James.
Late last month, news broke that LeBron's 19-year-old son was drafted to the Los Angeles Lakers as the 55th pick in the second round.
LeBron has been with the Lakers since 2018, meaning Bronny will likely be playing alongside his dad on the court at the same time soon. Bronny and LeBron are the first father-son duo to do so. While they're excited for this opportunity, they both have one goal in mind: winning a championship together. LeBron currently has four NBA championship rings under his belt, including one for the Lakers in 2020.
Well, Serena — in true competitor fashion — let everyone know she already achieved a similar accomplishment, way before him.
While taking the stage with her sister Venus Williams and Quinta Brunson to discuss women's sports, Serena said this: "LeBron wants to win with his son on his team. I won with my daughter in my belly. I think we know which one is way more impressive."
She, of course, was referring to the incredible feat she accomplished seven years ago when she secured her final Grand Slam title at the 2017 Australian Open while she was eight weeks pregnant.
Honestly, doing anything while pregnant deserves applause, but competing in such a physically demanding and grueling sport at the same time is truly impressive.
In total, Compton's hometown hero has won 23 Grand Slam women's singles titles, the most in the Open Era, and the second-most of all time. To top that off, Serena is also the only player in tennis history to accomplish a Career Golden Slam in both singles and doubles.
