13 Incredibly Common Lies Men Tell Women All The Time, And I'm Speechless

"If you give us this, we will remember it for months. Maybe even years."

While people lie from time to time for a myriad of reasons, Reddit user u/Bubbly_Fee_9588 wanted to know the things men lie to women about. Since thousands of men have provided their thoughts, I've gathered some of their replies for you to read below.

    1. "How much a long hug would help sometimes."

A couple shares an intimate moment at home; the woman lovingly hugs the man from behind as they sit at a wooden table

    2. "We have body image issues just as much as women do, we just don’t talk about it."

"We definitely have body image issues that aren't talked about. However, there is one key difference: our value to society.

While men certainly can be looked down upon sexually for not having the 'ideal' body, our value to society can exist separately. For example, you can be an ugly man who is a hard-working provider, and people will see that very positively.

Women, on the other hand, traditionally have almost all their societal value wrapped up in their appearance. There's the same sexual part, but beyond that, if you aren't a traditionally attractive woman, society will treat you like you have little value at all.

There are obviously a lot of things going on trying to change this in today's world, but women definitely still experience these issues."

    3. "How much our partner's pain affects us. Speaking for myself, I'm expected to be the 'strong one' and keep a positive attitude for her sake in times of suffering, and I'm totally faking it. When things are bad for her, I feel absolutely awful inside."

Two people embrace, one with their hand gently resting on the other's back, creating a comforting and intimate moment. Faces are not visible

    4. "If you give us a compliment we will remember it for months. Maybe even years."

    5. "Probably how scared we are of making fools of ourselves."

Elderly man with a bushy white beard, wearing circular glasses and a floral-patterned shirt, holds a white fluffy dog dressed in a matching shirt

    6. "Our irrational, delusional, and completely fantastical desire to die in a last stand."

"I can't tell you how many scenarios I have played out in my mind where I go down shooting, holding out against unbeatable odds, and knowing death is but seconds away, all for the chance to defend my beliefs and/or people."

    7. "'What are you thinking about?' 'Ah, nothing, I'm just tired/miles away/zoned out.' Yeah, no — we're probably stressing about any number of things, and we're not going to share. But we'll more than likely not share with our male friends either."

A man in a casual outfit sits at a table, looking pensive while using a laptop, with a coffee mug in front of him. The setting is a cozy living space

    8. "That we’re insecure about our height."

"Height, penis size, and receding hairline."

    9. "Their secret sandwich. Basically after you have been married/together for so long that you know everything about each other, a man needs his own private thing only he knows. Like once a week, he stops by this one special place and orders/eats a really good sandwich. His own little secret."

A man sits on a couch, holding a sandwich close to his mouth, appearing ready to take a bite. A plate of food is on the table in front of him

    10. "Our real feelings and desires and insecurities."

    11. "That spider I picked up and threw out the window? I dropped it on the carpet before I got there! Did it look like I was hamming it up when I flung it outside??? Nooooooooooo."

A person uses gloves to hold a glass over a sheet of paper, capturing a spider inside the glass

    12. "When we see you naked, we completely understand why 'fertility' was the basis of basically all prehistoric religions. It was either that or the sun."

    13. "That we wouldn't really love them if they were a worm."
