Kate Beckinsale has once again hit back at body-shamers on Instagram.
If you missed it, Kate took to IG back in May to reply to people who left unsolicited comments about her body and overall appearance.
When multiple users said that she looked too “thin,” Kate got extremely candid about her stress-induced health issues. She revealed that she’d “nursed [her] stepdad to his death” earlier in the year, recently lost her pet cat, and dealt with her mom having health issues, too.
Kate went on to reveal that she was in the hospital for six weeks recovering from a Mallory-Weiss tear, which was “caused by the stress of a whole year ripping a hole” between her esophagus and stomach.
Despite vowing not to address the subject again at the time, Kate has clearly had enough of the harsh comments about her body after sadly being flooded with more cruel remarks under a new Instagram video.
This week, Kate shared a video of herself in a pink T-shirt and matching underwear. She captioned it, “Let’s have a toast for the douche bags / Let’s have a toast for the assholes / Let’s have a toast for the scumbags,” which are lyrics from Kanye (Ye) West’s song “Runaway.”
Unfortunately, plenty of Instagram users felt the need to comment on her body — though Kate wasted no time hitting back.
When one user wrote, “So weird how the head keeps growing but the body shrinks. They turn in gnomes,” Kate replied, “the LOL of your bio picture being an actual gnome living its best life in the forest has given me so much life. I can’t tell you please go gather some more nuts and berries.”
Another person said, “I miss the elegant Kate,” to which the actor replied, “good God me too.”
Then, when a user told Kate to “go do some squats,” she opened up extensively about her health once again.
“Go do some squats @katebeckinsale I think ur ass ran away,” the person wrote, to which Kate hit back, “No, actually, I watched my stepfather die quite shockingly , my mother has stage 4 cancer, and I lost a lot of weight from stress and grief, quite quickly.”
Kate went on, “and then I was in hospital for six weeks because the grief had burned a hole in my oesophagus which made me vomit copious amounts of blood, and I found eating very hard and I just worked very very hard on a movie that was actually quite triggering because it also involved the theme of the death of my father so l'm not really concerned about what you think about my ass. Maybe you should worry about your own fucking ass. I suggest shoving something up it-like a large pineapple or a brick.”
Kate has since been flooded with support from Instagram users, many of whom she’s acknowledged directly.
“Why is everyone so mean and terrible? Kate is a beautiful and talented woman,” one person wrote under her recent post.
“You have more true fans who appreciate you than haters. Always know this,” another user said.
“This comment section is full of men who hate women and it shows. They got way too much time on their hands,” one more comment read.
