TEHRAN -- An
ancient precious necklace was found in Birjand,
Khorassan Province.
According
to the reports released on Monday, the necklace it
made up of some 14 golden coins on which some
epigraphs and the pictures of the British emperors
are carved. The necklace is also decorated with
pearls, turquoises and agates.
The
value of this necklace is estimated to be more
than three billion Rials.
Meanwhile,
in Talesh, Gilan Province, the Head of an
excavation group, affiliated to Gilan Cultural
Heritage Organization, Dr. Mohammadreza Khalatbari
said that during excavations in the ancient era of
Merian, a number of tombs related to the beginning
of the Iron Age, concurrent with the immigration
of the first group of Arians to Iran, were studied
archeologically.
He
added that some 49 tombs were studied and a
valuable collection of ancient earthenwares,
jewelry and weapons were discovered.
Also
in another development, an ancient site related to
the Sassanids Era was excavated in Isfahan's
Semirom District.
According
to the Public Relations Department of Isfahan's
Cultural Heritage Organization, three epigraphs in
Pahlavi language have been found in the ancient
site.
