The Internet Gets Carnal

While most movies dread appearing on the internet before they can get a DVD release, there’s one that’s embracing the internet in a completely new way: through direct internet release.

The Argentinian low budget picture Carnal is coming straight at you via the internet through short three to five minute “webisodes” starting sometime in the next few days at carnalthemovie.com. The site will also feature a behind the scenes look at the picture as well as a “making of” podcast.

Starring Federico Bezenzette, Guido Krilovetski, Alexia Zamparo and Mara Said, the film is a claustrophobic tale of two friends who get more than they bargained for when they go out for a bite to eat, encounter a pair of enticing women on the street and go home with them. The film was written and directed by award-winning Argentinean filmmaker Fabian Forte. Forte filmed and edited the entire movie in sequence with handheld cameras, a revolutionary filming technique!

Carnal was filmed over a period of six nine-hour days in sequence and was edited on the cameras as it was shot. The film won prizes at the 2006 International Festival of Digital Cinema and director Fabian Forte won “Best Director” at the Fearless Tales Genre Festival in 2005.

While the film will eventually get a DVD release in 2007, I think it’s very interesting a movie is being made available via the internet like this. Check the film out at carnalthemovie.com.
