FX's Lights Out Teaser Packs A Punch

FX released a teaser for their upcoming original series Lights Out. Judging from what was shown, the show could fit in well with FX’s other gripping drama series. If the teaser gets one thing right, it’s that America loves a comeback.

FX released the following information last year when they announced the Lights Out pickup…

Lights Out, from Executive Producer/Showrunner Warren Leight (In Treatment) and Creator/Executive Producer Justin Zackham (The Bucket List), stars Holt McCallany as an aging former heavyweight boxing champion who struggles to find his identity and support his wife and three daughters after retiring from the ring. Financial problems leave him at a perilous crossroads – battling the urge to return to boxing or reluctantly accepting a job as a brutal and intimidating debt collector. Clark Johnson (The Shield, The Wire) directed the pilot episode. Phillip Noyce (Clear and Present Danger) and Ross Fineman are also Executive Producers. Lights Out is produced by Fox Television Studios and FX Productions.

The premise reminds me a little bit of The Wrestler, which just depresses me but the teaser below looks pretty good. Nothing like using a drumbeat to set the mood (and maybe make you want to punch something).

Lights Out will premiere January 2011 on FX.
