Full Fargo Season 2 Trailer Is Filled With Violence And Homespun Charm

If you thought that first look at Season 2 of Fargo looked enjoyably quaint and deceivingly devious, the full-length official trailer below is going to blow you away. Grab yourself a chocolate glazed and check it out!

So. Many. Stars. Season 1 of Fargo had amazing names like Martin Freeman, Billy Bob Thornton and Bob Odenkirk in it, but Season 2 just might have the best cast for any TV show that’s ever existed. Now, it might not all add up to become the best performances by any cast ever, but the potential is definitely there, especially since this story has such a specific point of view to match the convolution. Still, the pitch black comedy looks just as spot on as the franchise would require, and the crimes will undoubtedly be tough to take in large doses.

Let’s break this complicated bastard down, shall we? Somewhere near the top of this pile is Patrick Wilson’s Lou Solverson, a role played in Season 1 by Keith Carradine. We’re back in 1979 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Lou is still transitioning to normal life after spending some time in Vietnam. (His wife, Betsy, is played by Cristin Milioti, and we have a younger actress playing young Molly.) Lou is up to his clean-shaven chin in problems, including a local batch of criminals being challenged by a larger crime syndicate. Somehow, local butcher’s assistant Ed Blumquist (Jesse Plemons) and his beautician wife Peggy (Kirsten Dunst) are involved, and I doubt it’s in an innocent way, as hinted at by Ed’s possible attack in the trailer.

Lou will be assisted in his duties by his father-in-law, a local sheriff played by Ted Danson, who can never be in too many shows in my opinion. As well, there’s the booze-friendly con artist Karl Weathers – not to be confused with that other one – as played by Nick Offerman. I think we’re going to have a battle of the beards, guys.

”fargo”

You can see more facial hair kicking in the Gerhardts, the family currently calling crime their own in Fargo, although not on matriarch Floyd, played with a purse-lipped grace by the ever-wonderful Jean Smart. She’s got a trio of sons serving as the next wave of the Gerhardt gang, but they all appear to be equally inept, though intriguingly so. The oldest, Dodd (Jeffrey Donovan), is eager to take over the dastardly duties as soon as his parents die; middle son Bear (Angus Sampson) is the softest spoken of the clan, probably due to a lack of smarts; and then there’s Rye (Kieran Culkin), the son who wants to play with the big boys but doesn’t have all the faculties to do so.

Moving in on the Gerhardts’ turf are Kansas City corporate criminal Joe Bulo (Brad Garrett with a killer mustache) and his underling Mike Milligan (Bokeen Woodbine). There will be death. There will be more death. But hey, at least we know Lou makes it out in the end.

Fargo Season 2, which also features Bruce Campbell as Ronald Regan, will hit FX this fall in October.
