The Google Pixel 9 series launch is approaching, with leaks revealing the Pixel 9, 9 Pro, and 9 Pro XL.
However, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Google’s second-generation foldable phone, remained mostly undisclosed until new photos from Taiwan’s National Communications Commission (NCC) revealed its details, as reported by Android Authority.
Pixel 9 Series Model Numbers
All four Pixel 9 models have been listed on the NCC:
- Pixel 9 (GUR25)
- Pixel 9 Pro (GEC77)
- Pixel 9 Pro XL (GZC4K)
- Pixel 9 Pro Fold (GGH2X)
The NCC also provided internal photos of the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL

The images show that Google has moved away from the short, squat design of the original Pixel Fold.
The new design resembles the OnePlus Open, with a taller outer display. The camera bar is gone, replaced by a larger housing that prevents wobbling when laid flat.
The inner display is taller and narrower with reduced bezels. The phone can open completely flat, unlike the first-gen Fold. The inner camera is now a cutout on the upper-left, unlike the previous bezel-embedded camera.
The battery capacity has been reduced to 4,560mAh from the original Fold’s 4,727mAh, potentially offset by efficiency improvements in the new Tensor processor.
Battery Capacity and Charging Speed
The battery sizes for the Pixel 9 series are as follows:
- Pixel 9: 4,558 mAh
- Pixel 9 Pro: 4,558 mAh
- Pixel 9 Pro XL: 4,942 mAh
- Pixel 9 Pro Fold: 4,560 mAh (1,183 mAh + 3,377 mAh)
The report indicates faster charging speeds, though exact values aren’t provided. The Pixel 9 Pro XL shows a charging speed of 32.67W, suggesting support for at least 35W, an upgrade from the Pixel 8 Pro’s 30W.
Radio Support and Accessories
All models in the Pixel 9 series are certified for Thread, but only the base Pixel 9 lacks UWB.
Additionally, a new 45W USB-C charger (model GW8L7) has been revealed. It has a more rounded design compared to previous chargers. It remains to be seen whether Google will bundle this charger with the Pixel 9 series.
Launch Date
The Pixel 9 series is set to launch on August 13, 2024. More details are expected to emerge as the date approaches.
