At the very front in Barcelona it was another epic episode of the Max and Lando show, the dynamic duo of Verstappen and Norris finishing one-two for the fifth time in the last six races. But there was plenty going on behind too, not least a welcome podium return for Lewis Hamilton. Here’s our round-up of the notable numbers from Spain.

• World championship race #1111 was won by car #1.

• Today’s was Verstappen’s seventh win in 11 races this year, and his 61st career win.

• It was Verstappen’s fourth Spanish Grand Prix win and his third in a row at this track.

REPORT: Verstappen holds off Norris challenge to seal victory at the Spanish Grand Prix

• Verstappen took the championship lead after winning the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix and has not lost it since – that’s 763 days.

• Verstappen now has 106 podium finishes and ties Alain Prost and Fernando Alonso for fourth on the all-time list, at the circuit on which he took his first podium by winning in 2016.

• The winner came from the front row in Barcelona for the 31st time in 34 Grands Prix.

• With P2, Norris is the only driver to finish in the points in every Grand Prix in 2024.

• It was McLaren’s first podium at this track since Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button were second and third in 2011.

Another home race, another points-scoring result for Carlos Sainz

• McLaren have now been on the podium for six consecutive races, their longest run since 2011-12.

• Today was the fifth time in the last six races that Verstappen and Norris have finished one-two (in either order).

• Hamilton’s P3 was his first podium finish of the 2024 season.

• It was his 198th career podium finish, but his 17th podium finish since his last win at Saudi Arabia 2021.

• Hamilton now has 18 consecutive seasons with a podium finish, extending his F1 record.

• At 39 years and 168 days, Hamilton is the third-oldest podium finisher in the 21st century, behind Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher.

• With George Russell P4, Mercedes finished three-four for the second consecutive race.

• Russell has led the opening lap at the last two Grands Prix.

• At Ferrari, P5 for Charles Leclerc was his highest finish in Spain since 2021.

• With P6, team mate Carlos Sainz retains his record of always scoring points in his home Grand Prix (10 out of 10).

• The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is the only track on which Sainz has a 100% point-scoring record in F1.

Another double-points score moves Alpine ahead of Haas in the standings

• McLaren’s Oscar Piastri was P7, his lowest finish since failing to score in Miami.

• Red Bull’s Sergio Perez finished P8 after gaining three places – the exact number of places he was penalized after qualifying for continuing with a damaged car at the previous round in Canada.

• At Alpine, Pierre Gasly was P9 and scored points for the third consecutive race, matching his and the team’s best finish of the season.

• Team mate Esteban Ocon was P10, meaning the Alpine drivers finished ninth and 10th for the second straight race weekend.

• As a result, Alpine move ahead of Haas and into seventh in the constructors’ championship.

• At Haas, Nico Hulkenberg was P11 – the fifth time in 2024 that he has finished in that position.

• Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso could only manage P12 – the third time in the last four races that he has failed to score.

• Kick Sauber’s Zhou Guanyu took P13 for his best finish since he was 11th in the opening Grand Prix of the season.

• There were no retirements in the Spanish Grand Prix for the second consecutive year.
