It’s been a long time coming, but Lando Norris finally added his name to the list of F1 winners on Sunday, after a thrilling Grand Prix in Miami – a race which threw up more than its fair share of fascinating figures. Here’s just a handful for you to take in and digest at your leisure…

• Norris is the 21st British driver to win a world championship Grand Prix and the 114th in total.

• Norris ties Patrick Depailler, Jean Alesi, Mika Hakkinen and Eddie Irvine for the most podium finishes before a first win (15 before today).

REPORT: Norris beats Verstappen for breakthrough maiden F1 victory in action-packed Miami Grand Prix

• Today was Norris’ 110th start for McLaren, which coincidentally tied Lewis Hamilton’s total with the team from 2007-2012.

• Norris is the first driver to take a maiden win in the United States since Michele Alboreto at Caesars Palace in 1982.

• Norris finished 17th in the 2023 Miami Grand Prix, 1m 27s behind Max Verstappen.

• Courtesy of Norris, today was the first time the British national anthem was heard on the podium since Sao Paulo 2022.

• Today was only McLaren’s second Grand Prix win in the last 12 years (the other came with Daniel Ricciardo at Monza 2021).

Verstappen had no answer to Norris' pace in the race's closing stages

• McLaren have won in Indycar, Formula E and now Formula 1 within the past two months.

• Today was McLaren’s 13th win in the United States – tying Ferrari’s record – and their first US win since Lewis Hamilton at Austin 2012.

• Verstappen’s P2 finish ended his run of six consecutive race wins in the United States.

• Verstappen failed to win a Grand Prix for only the third time in the last 371 days – it was the first time he has failed to win a race at this track in four attempts (Sprint and Grand Prix).

• The last driver to defeat Verstappen in a Grand Prix other than Carlos Sainz was George Russell (Sao Paulo 2022).

• Verstappen has now finished second exactly half as many times as he has finished first in a Grand Prix (29-58)

• Today was Verstappen’s 103rd career podium, which ties Kimi Raikkonen for sixth on the all-time list.

• P3 for Charles Leclerc means the Ferrari driver finished in the top-three in both the Sprint and the Grand Prix this weekend. It was also his third Grand Prix podium of 2024.

• Team mate Carlos Sainz took P5, meaning Ferrari have scored with both cars in every Sprint and Grand Prix in 2024.

Alpine secured their first point of 2024 thanks to Ocon's P10 finish

• Lewis Hamilton came home in P6 for Mercedes and has now finished sixth in all three Miami Grands Prix to date.

• It was Hamilton’s first top-six finish in a Grand Prix in 2024.

DRIVER OF THE DAY: Norris gets your nod after glorious maiden win in Miami

• With P7 for RB, Yuki Tsunoda tied his and the team’s best Grand Prix result of 2024 (he was also seventh in Australia).

• P8 for Mercedes was George Russell’s lowest-ever finish in Miami.

• After finishing in P9 for Aston Martin, Fernando Alonso has scored in all six Grands Prix this season.

• Thanks to Esteban Ocon’s P10 result, Alpine scored their first point of 2024, the longest they've gone into a season before doing so since 1985 (as Toleman).

• At Haas, Nico Hulkenberg was 11th and came within 1.043s of scoring in both the Sprint and the Grand Prix this weekend.
